Yeah it took alot of convincing for me too. I have loads of aircraft I have built the ezdok into.

I wonder...do I have to uninstall ezdok since it runs automatically at FSX startup? I would not like to lose it if I do not find the Opus camera to my taste. (next research project)

BTW I did my first flight with it. It was just right on the weather outside. I had flown REX weather earlier and it was a bit off.

Looks really great but my clouds are lined up oddly - in perfect straight lines. I have asked on their forum with pictures.

Those guys work hard and answer quick. It must get tiresome....product of their own success. :)

You could disable EZDOK (EZCA) in the FSX.cfg (by putting // before the line that has EZCA in it) but you will have to decline the load of EZCA everytime you startup FSX. But you will probably choose one or the other real soon so this will only be a temporary nuisance. ^_^

Rob,

I had the same concern with losing all my hard work with ezca (which was a real PITA to get working the way I liked). You can disable ezca from starting up without losing all the camera definitons that you may have set up in case you want to go back to it if you follow these instructions.

To Disable Ezca from starting with FSX:

1. run the Ezca config.exe and select 'restore' to remove the ezca camera definiton in each aircraft.cfg.

2. Open your exe.xml with notepad. You will find it in the same directory as your fsx.cfg

Search for the following lines :

<Launch.Addon>

<Name>EZdok camera addon</Name>

<Disabled>false</Disabled>

<Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\EZCA\EZCA.exe</Path>

</Launch.Addon>

change <Disabled>false</Disabled> to <Disabled>true</Disabled>

Save and exit.

Ensure that you enable Live Camera within Opus.

Start FSX Ezca will no longer start when FSX is loaded.

************************

To Enable Ezca:

1. run the Ezca config.exe and select 'configure FSX' to add the ezca camera definiton in each aircraft.cfg.

2. Open your exe.xml with notepad

change <Disabled>true</Disabled> to <Disabled>false</Disabled>

Save and exit.

Ensure that you disable Live Camera within Opus.

Start FSX. Ezca will now start when loading FSX

That's it! I installed Opus a couple of weeks ago and found that I prefer the Live Camera from Opus over Ezca and haven't gone back.

Cheers,

Brent

Great thanks for your answers! That is a perfect explanation and just what I needed.

I guess part 2 would be go back into the TrackIR and uncomment/change the 2 lines ezdok ask to be changed....?

BTW - The clouds repeating appear to be a REX deal not Opus. More info from my post on their forum: http://www.simforums.com/forums/cloud-lines_topic43837.html

Sorry Rob, I don't understand what your asking me here.

I should have said Files not lines. When I installed Ezdok the manual...I think... had me go and rename a couple of TrackIr files.

I hope to get to all of this over the weekend.

Just make sure you follow the instructions Opus gives in the manual to make TrackIr play nice with Live Camera in Opus.

I believe they are the same files that need to be changed.

Brent Beale

You can leave the TrackIR files changed indeed (so renamed, just as you had to do for EZCA).

BTW I simply uninstalled EZCA... During a certain beta I had problems with the OpusFSX cam and I decided to reinstall EZCA. Everything worked immediately because all the views are saved, even when you uninstall EZCA, in the APPDATA/ROAMING/EZCA folder. I always keep a backup of that folder in case my PC might crash: after reinstalling EZCA and copying that database in the right place, all views are back again!

Mind you, EXCA is gone again now because I am using OpusFSX for cams: much better movements! ^_^

  • 1 year later...

Hi ,

Does anyone know how to get the effect of the MCP panel in the AEX Airbus or have a good profile saved looking more 3d,  e.g you get a clear definition slant effect between the MCP and glass instruments. You get a good effect with Ezdok but I gave this up in favour of Opus..

Have fiddled around a lot but just cannot get what I like...

Many Thanks

Just create a new VC camera view and adjust the eye point to what you desire. You have full control over all six axes including zoom, that's the full extent of control possible so you can create any view you desire. Try to stick with using default zoom levels if possible though as the sim is quite inefficient at changing them.

Stephen :-)
