Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Just wanted to check to see if there are any winter-texture addons for v10.

Thanks!

I think its just a matter of time , we will have seasons in X-Plane ...............in time.

Just a bit of history.

Once said ; X-Pane`s texture max size is 1024 and it will stay so.

Once said ; X-planes texture max is 2048 ,dito.

NOW we have 4096 as a max.

Today we have X-Plane at 32 bit.

Very soon we will have 64 bit.

There are many other examples I can think of.

Read my lips " X-Plane has a bright future"

It's not a matter of performance capabilities for seasonal textures... it's a matter of staffing and resources.

Laminar has chosen to develop their product with a very small handful of talented individuals, both full and/or part time. This (*dare I say) artificial limitation has been the downfall of X-Plane for what feels like an eternity.

I believe they rely on one person - one individual person - to create all the ground textures. That same individual may also be charged with creating autogen objects and other art assets and elements. Considering they still haven't even finished creating the "summertime" texture sets, I have a desperately hard time believing that they would ever have the time to complete fall, spring, winter, and hard winter sets too. The programmers and artists are not supermen... the do a great job with their tasks, but quite simply there aren't enough of them to advance X-Plane to meet its potential before we move on to X-Plane 11... where the cycle will repeat itself once again and we'll all be left wondering if maybe THAT version will be the one that turns the corner....

It's the most frustrating part of X-Plane culture. Everyone says X-Plane has a bright future, but nobody ever really witnesses the product actually reach it...

Reading your comments made me think of the Matrix Series, once X-plane reaches it's Final "The One" comes and we start anew.

Very true, XPX is not for everyone, just like "The other sim" is not either. I do believe XPX has a future.
