November 10, 201213 yr Trying to figure out how to add an "X" on a closed taxiway. I tried using Instant Scenery, but can't find an X in any library.
November 10, 201213 yr Guess "it" got lost in the hack of Avsim... Go to FSDeveloper and under Downloads you will find a package of "runway markings" which will include a placeable "X" that can be used with IS2.
November 10, 201213 yr Surely if you use afcad or similar it will automatically put "X" if you designate a taxiway as closed! Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

November 12, 201213 yr I have the opposite wish. Is there a way that an existing "X" for a closed taxiway can be covered over? In this case it is a payware scenery that was a major NATO base in the Cold War and now has an area of hardened aircraft shelters and taxiways closed down. If it was possible, I'd like to reinstate them to their operational status. Any suggestions of a way I can cover over the X markings? The markings are clearly part of the scenery model and can't be removed as far as I can tell, but I thought I might be able to cover them with something else. I know I can use AFX to simply make the taxiways, parking etc. operational of course, so it's really cosmetic but if I could get rid of the closed marking it would look better for my purposes....
November 13, 201213 yr So much for it being an "upgrade" then! Afcad2 does it as its quite fundamental to airport layout. Of course you can add the closed taxiway in ADE just the same as you can in AFCAD. Just select the Closed Taxiway type from the tool bar. To be sure that traffic does not use closed taxiways you need to ensure they are not connected to the 'working' part of the taxi network Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com

November 13, 201213 yr Obviously the topic creator was not aware of either of these programmes!!! The topic creator uses ADE, but hasn't explored the various options deeply. That's ok... while I knew and could explain how to add a windsock, I didn't know you could add (or remove) closed taxiways. It's always useful to have the ADE developer around to answer such questions. (Thanks, Jon) Hook Larry Hookins Oh! November 16, 201213 yr You can also get runway X's and a boatload of other useful airport objects in my small_airstrip_objects_ss.bgl. Available right here on Avsim.
