November 11, 201213 yr We get to go glacier hunting again. I'll land on this one just like I did at Mendenhall. The CC is great for these. Enjoy. Thank you. November 12, 201213 yr Got it, landed on it, took off over the edge. Recovered to Wasilla. Now at 167 caches and counted.
November 12, 201213 yr Author Well, this was certainly one for those that wanted to fly to the cache. Took a while to get there, and I had to be very close before the marker showed up. Good flight. This one was fun in the C46. Even at 180 mph, it took a while. I didn't think to land this beast on the ice, but I'm going to try it. BTW Kitty, glad to see more caches becoming permanent. Would be difficult just to make them all permanent?
November 12, 201213 yr Author One thing I forgot to mention - This cache should be name "Harvard Glacier". It lives in College Fiord. All the glaciers in this fiord have Ivy League names. Don't know how MS missed this one. I posted it as MS named it and was curious to see if anyone else caught this misspelling. Thank you. November 12, 201213 yr I caught it as soon as the search came up already corrected. I kept meaning to mention it, but never quite got around to it. Wasn't a bad flight in the Cub (even upwind), and it was obvious where it had to be; you could see the glacier as soon as you crested the hills. I was surprised how close I had to get, but I suspect that it wasn't that close, it was just the scale of the glacier. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
