November 16, 201213 yr Hi there, I have noticed that GoFlight have released 2 new items of hardware that NGX jockeys might be very interested in. I , certainly am interested because they look like being very useful. 1. GF-EFIS 2.GF-MCP-PRO They look highly realistic and are good value too. For users like myself who intend to build a full size home cockpit this looks to be a very good alternative to the hugely expensive alternatives out there. On the GoFlight website compatibility charts for these two products it seems we need to purchase an interface software specifically designed for these items, with the NGX, from PMDG. My question being, is this a WIP, and will there eventually be something we can buy to use these with our favourite 737 ? It is without doubt the finest rendition of the 737 that never actually rolled out of the Boeing factory. Best Regards to all at PMDG Eddie Zetlein.
November 16, 201213 yr The interface software is done and works very well. You can find the software at the GoFlight website. It is free thanks to Steve Munn. I use both the MCPPRO and EFIS modules and as previously mentioned, work great. http://goflight.vanillaforums.com/discussion/74/pmdg-737-ngx-interface-software-here Brad Rich
November 16, 201213 yr have noticed that GoFlight have released 2 new items of hardware Hello Hardly "new", they have been available for many years, Nowhere on the Goflight compatibility list does it mention having to purchase any software, where did you read this?, the Goflight Config program is free, as is Stephen Munns NGX software They are very nice units and I would not be without mine.
November 16, 201213 yr On the GoFlight website compatibility charts for these two products it seems we need to purchase an interface software specifically designed for these items, with the NGX, from PMDG. The new PMDG 737NGX works good with the free ware PMDG Interface built by Steve like others have already mentioned. Not only the MCP Pro and EFIS, in fact, most of the other GF Modules can be programmed to work with the PMDG 737ngx using that interface as well.. So all your other knobs and switches from GF can be programmed to work with it. But if you want to use the GF MCP Pro and EFIS with the PMDG 747 then you may need the $60 payware interface from Flight Labs.. But then I have heard that GF stopped putting unique srl number on their MCP Pro firmware that the Sim Labs interface requires.. so that payware interface may not work with the new MCP Pros.. I am 90% sure of this... I have the slightly older MCP Pro that has the right firmware and the srl number and it works well with the payware interface. Since PMDG would have an SDK for the upcoming 747 that is similar to the 737NGX, I would think, its reasonable to expect similar interface like the one for the 737ngx for the 747 (New upcoming release) as well Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
November 17, 201213 yr Author Thanks guys for the link to the software, I now realise that these units are not exactly new, but are only recently being stocked by a Pilot outlet I use that have described them as "New". New to them, perhaps, but I admit having never seen them advertised before. The GF website publishes a pdf compatibility chart for these two modules, that simply says PMDG software required, for the NGX. The implication being that you had to purchase it from PMDG themselves. I just didn't realise that it was free from GoFlight themselves. Well done to Steve, a great big thank you from me. I will be buying these straight away now. Thanks for your help guys. Eddie.
November 19, 201213 yr No worries Eddie. Make sure you get the latest version which is actually listed under the DIO drivers section on the Goflight forum: http://goflight.vanillaforums.com/discussion/140/gf-dio-board-drivers#latest Best wishes Steve Stephen Munn
