Meridian - Purchase advice

Featured Replies

Dear Friends, I've read all I can about this great sounding aircraft and would have no hesitaion purchasing it. However, the one concern I have now is it's age. FS9 is now a year old and this plane was flying around in FS2002 for a year prior to this.I guess my question is, is it starting to show its age? Thanks in advance for any input you can give.Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."

Hi,no, it doesnt show its age. It was completely updated and re-released for FS2004.This plane is truly state-of-the-art!! If you like GA and modern avionics, the Meridian is a must-have, one of the best planes ever for FS2004!Cheers,Michael

I agree. Not outdated at all. It's one of the few GA aircraft I still have on the HDD and it's a joy to fly. The Garmin alone is enough to justify the purchase. Simply a really good aircraft. And the documentation available for is about the best I've ever seen.Doug

The Meridian runs better in my FS9 install than it did in FS2002... and it ran just fine for me in FS2002.A great GA aircraft.Greg

The 2D panel is still one of the best, and the Gauges by RealityXP are almost magical. In fact I consider them to be the best gauges in any fs aircraft. What I don't like about the Meridian, and have never liked, is the VC, which is simpler than anything by FSD or other quality developers. This aircraft is best enjoyed from the 2D panel.- Oyvind

No worry... it is still one of the best aircraft available for FS2004.The panel and instruments are in a class by themselves. There is also a downloadable video for sale that (for $10 or so) shows you a complete Meridian flight from Boeing field to Bellingham. It is amazing to see how real the Flight1 Meridian instruments are, when compared to the real thing!

For me.. This is THE BEST PAYWARE/FREEWARE plane so far.

Hi,I do own the F1 Meridian and have since it first came out for 2002. It is an excellent aircraft, but please also consider the Aeroworx B200 if your looking for the best personal turboprop. The 530 in the Meridian is very fun, but it seems as though it is not updated like the stand alone 530 from Rxp. There was talk from Rxp several months ago on the F1 forum of them upgrading avionics in the Meridian, but I've heard little about the patch since. On my 3GHz system with 1G ram and sata raid 0 I still find the Meridian to be a hog, even with tweaking the 530 to run separate with HT. The B200 on the other hand runs as smooth as a default aircraft on my system, and its systems are more complex and flight dynamics seem more believable. I've thought many times to get the 530 and install it into the B200 because I hear it runs smoother than the one integrated into the Meridian. I think if you buy the Meridian it should be mainly for the fun that the 530 is; I think the B200 is a much nicer looking aircraft both inside and out, and a patch has all ready been promised for the B200 with new features I think. Excuse me if my facts are wrong because I don't read all info available. The truth is - I've put my Meridian out in the pasture; I just don't fly it anymore maybe because it at one time was the only plane I flew and I got tired of it, or it just don't deliver compared to the new releases to me. Also, the B200 has a very nice TCAS that works in multiplayer.Matt

I agree. I have both the Meridian and B200. If your preference is for twin turbo props and a plethra :) of procedural requirements that must be followed to get her off the ground, then the B200 is a good choice. I prefer the placement of Reality XP's WX and 530 Garmin on the B200. However, as a single turbo prop, the Meridian is the finest I have found. Have fun choosing! :)BobP :)

The Meridian is my favorite G/A plane. You can't go wrong with it!

Everybody, I've been away the last week and haven't had a chance to post a thank you response, so "Thank You!!" all for your opinions. I went ahead and purchased the Meridian. She is everything you said she is and more. I can confirm this plane looks and feels every bit as good as if it was released yesterday. What an essential add on!Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."
