Ground the Maddog!

Featured Replies

First hello and an added Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US.

I purchased "Fly the Maddog Pro 2010" as I wanted to do shared cockpit. After installing, the "Maddog" menu doesn't show.

What I've done about it:

Research! Apparently Win 7 isn't supported but I didn't see many with issues.

Install as admin.

Install with no UAC.

Remove addons

Edit the DLL.XML file 30 times (literally).

After editing the DLL, sometimes Maddog will show but FSCopliot will not and vice versa.

Then I took the plunge and uninstalled FSX. Then reinstalled according to Nick's suggestions

Scour the internet

Edit the DLL.XML file some more

It did not fix the problem. All of the above has taken me several hours that I don't really have

Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you solve it?

Has anyone dealt with LSH's support and do they offer refunds?

Thanks for any advice you can provide...

Can you provide more details? Have you tried the Maddog configuration tool? Did you see the Maddog in FSX at all? You can try the forum at site, but there is no refund. I don't use shared cockpit, but I don't have install issue, i.e. no dll.xml edit etc.

Of course and thanks for responding.

I ran the Load Manager in admin... not in admin... No effect.

There is a post in the MD forums (amongst the top 5 right now) and a poster named Dave is asking about this exact issue. Still awaiting a reply.

The Maddog DOES load in FSX and everything is fine about the plane EXCEPT I have no access to the addon menu as it doesn't show.

Let me know if you need more.

Can you post your dll.xml?

Not to be discouraging, but there really isn't any official support for the Maddog anymore. The posts are answered by some helpful members, but not by Lago.

Support is extremely slow for the Maddog and always has been, but in my view, it is still the most complex jetliner simulation in FSX, so it is well and truly worth persevering.

I have it running in Win7 - 64bit with no issues whatsoever. After installing, when you validate your installation, you should have the Control Panel available to you. Am I correct understanding that you never saw the Control Panel at this stage?

I have the Maddog Addon menu with no issue.

Your dll.xml entry should look like:

<Launch.Addon>

<Name>Fly the Maddog</Name>

<Disabled>False</Disabled>

<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>

<Path>F:\FSX\Modules\LeonardoSH.dll</Path>

</Launch.Addon>

Substitute your path. FSX should ask you if you want to trust the dll once, if it does not then check to see if the entry is already in your fsx.cfg

Check your fsx.cfg for an entry similar to this:

F:\FSX\Modules\LeonardoSH.dll.tiobnotrzqoaqkcnhbuczaeotlzkiiouhcwzwhre=1

If all those entries are there and you have no Maddog sub menu showing up, while your other aircrafts like PMDG has their sub menu. Then I would suggest unistalling once again, delete manually the Maddog entries/folders, delete the fsx.cfg file to get it rebuilt.

But let's hope some checking of the current install will solve your problem.

@WYFox: At this point I probably cannot get more discouraged. I was hoping to do shared cockpit. But on the bright side at least it's a really good stand alone aircraft.

@WR: When you say "Control Panel" do you mean the setup launcher where you register and all that? Yes. I can get that easily. Inside of FSX in the addon menus, I cannot get the drop down. From other developers I know they can hide their addon menu options when their specific plane isn't loaded. I loaded the plane up and did some pattern work around KMFE and Maddog never showed in the addon menu.

@Anxu: My DLL is up above.

Here is my entry from the config:

E:\FSX\Modules\LeonardoSH.dll.loneoqwtbizzkrlbeiennhchriclataqoetnnqwb=1

Thanks again for the replies and if I get this corrected I'll post what I did for others who might have the same issue...

Ah! ok,, now it makes sense. Vu has posted how the DLL.XML file should look like, adjust to suit your needs.

Stick to it, once you have flown shared cockpit it is difficult not to want to do it again and again!
