March 1, 201313 yr try the AlaskaModels1alt preset in the "improve performance using saved environmental presets" button in the setup tool And what does this setting do exactly? I tried experimenting abit lowering some details around Ancourage in UTAlaska setup, I changed the "Houses as standard Scenery Library Objects" to "Houses as standard autogen objects" all around the Ancourage area, now i get almost stable 30 FPS with PMDG J41 . I guess I was throwing to much detail into it, now I'm very happy it works great, and i can't see much difference in the scenery either so I don't think I lost to much detail by doing that. If it haven't been for this thread I may have not digged deeper into this problem and I would have had this thing unsolved and maybe unistalled PANC, so thanks alot for the discussion. B)
March 1, 201313 yr Commercial Member No matter on the UTX Alaska or Flight1, I just bought Orbx Pacific Fjords instead. I quite enjoy the combo of Orbx PFJ, Tongass, and then Ultimate Alaska - I generally like to fly from PAKT and pick a spot further north. Breathtaking scenery. But considering that Orbx South Alaska is supposed to be on it's way this year, I guess that combo might not be as popular anymore. It'll be interesting to see how the fact that most flyers who fly in that area already have at least two or all three of those scenery affects Orbx sales. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
March 1, 201313 yr And what does this setting do exactly? It just works. Magic. I believe, without reading the manual (who does that?) that it loads vector objects like the default does, but these vector objects are lighter and less detailed than the standard objects. loading as autogen like you did can improve the frames as well, but does not line up with the rest of the scenery as nicely, and has the other disadvantages of autogen (less variety, draws at a shorter distance etc...) the vector objects are std scenery items and not autogen, and generally look more like typical Alaskan buildings. when I still had my Q6600 I ran the buildings as autogen, with my new i5 I run the setting I told you about above. even with a modern overclocked computer I couldn't get smooth frames with default UTX and Aerosoft's PANC, but with the AlaskaModels1alt tweak, I can. Of course, as soon as Orbx comes out with SAK I'll be using that anchorage, hopefully that will perform well too.

Ah, thanks for explaining, alltough I only needed to use normal autogen around ancourage so I didn't touch other areas, so a little less detail there i can live with(mostly fly heavies in UTAlaska and GA in tongas and PFJ). The performance gain by doing this whas spectacular. I whas just afraid it did something with the internal FSX settings that I may would not like if it changed(that's why I asked). But reading a little info about this setting in UTA setup It doesn't change anything that I would not like it to change, only issue is that "Some anomalies can be expected with this option, in large cities with hilly terrain". But since you don't mention this I guess it's not a problem at all. I'll check it out  Oh yeah SAK, I sure will get this when released, but I hope the photoreal Ancourage doesn't kill the PANC performance again. :(
March 1, 201313 yr It'll be interesting to see how the fact that most flyers who fly in that area already have at least two or all three of those scenery affects Orbx sales. Orbx SAK is gonna be a lot more detailed and better looking than Ultimate Alaska so if someone is enjoying flying in Alaska this will be a must have i think. But it doesn't cover the whole of Alaska, so when flying further north, I will still have Ultimate Alaska X to give cover for the rest of the region. So even if people have Ultimate Alaska I don't think it would affect Orbx sales, because It will give the possibility to enchance this region even more. And Tongas Fjord ends where SAK starts so these 2 addons will go hand in hand.
March 1, 201313 yr Commercial Member Ah, I didn't realize that Orbx South Alaska was going to not include the Tongass Fjords area. I assumed it would butt up against PFJ. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
March 1, 201313 yr try the AlaskaModels1alt preset I'll check it out Ok i tried using your suggestion and it whas much smoother and I got around 20 FPS with the PMDGJ41, but using normal autogen in this area gave me alot more performance 30 FPS so I think I'll stick to that for now. I mostly fly the NGX into this area so I do not need so much ground detail as I will be spending most of my time on FL40. Having great performance when landing is essential for me, but when SAK comes out I probably spend some time flying GA in this area too. Ah, I didn't realize that Orbx South Alaska was going to not include the Tongass Fjords area. I assumed it would butt up against PFJ. The devs that made Tongas Fjords, Holger Sandman and Bill Womack are now working for Orbx and the details in this area comes on par with Orbx regions. So I guess they decided not to reinvent the wheel and It's fully compitable with Orbx(alltough the textures are not as good as Orbx but It looks great anyway)
