I've been looking forward to Bella Coola ever since it was mentioned in the 2012 roadmap. Great jumping off location for the southern part of PFJ and northern PNW, and just a spectacular spot. The previews look great.

Anyone want to give a short review? Frame rates etc?

frame rates are awesome as long as you stay away from the new 3D grass heavy..!

difference between gras heavy and grass light is easily 15 fps average, unless you have really nice dream system where you can afford that kind of fps drop to enjoy the grass heavy hogg..!

Frame rates very good here considering the detail!

All sliders maxed out.

The only "compromised" setting I use, is 3d grass set to lite.

Well I guess "Bob" might appreciate the detail and it might be great eyecandy in the screenshots but that seems a hell of a hit on FPS! Still as long as the other textures run maxed that's OK? Paying $33 or equivalent for HD scenery is pretty pointless if you have to run with sliders anything less than maxed?

In fairness most ORBX stuff seems to be pretty good in that respect. There was a thread a while back where folk started feedback on the best and the worst of their fields in this respect. Useful for folk who haven't got the latest processors because some were reported as very good, some lower and a couple taking heavy hits. Info like that enables people to make an informed choice on their purchases but there wasn't really enough feedback to draw any proper conclusions. Of course there are so many variables in hardware and setups that it can only ever be a rough guide.

Thanks for the feedback so far. PFJ and Tongass have my attention right now so it's "on the list"

I'll echo what the others have said from my quick test. The grass is tough for those of us with modest systems (not on the level of Anacortes for me, but definitely a strain), but the lite grass looks fine and takes care of the problem. The rest of the detail is still all there, so you give up very little. In fact in all honesty, I think I'd need to see the full and lite grass side by side to appreciate the differences. Or perhaps drag "Bob" out and get up close and personal - something I've only done once.

Yes I agree. The lite grass looks amazing.

No probs with scenery my end. Super smooth and looks sensational.
