November 28, 201213 yr Of note in this movie, I've read that it is shot at 48 fps instead of the usual 24 fps most films are shown at. The director says it's much more life like. So even the movie makers are trying to get as many fps as they can from their movies! :LMAO: John

So even the movie makers are trying to get as many fps as they can from their movies! :LMAO: John This is true, We're not the only one addicted to FPS... For the digital artists it was a huge task as they work on each from individually, so doubling the FPS is doubling the work, also Peter Jackson films tend to be really really long.... 170 minutes long means it has 489,600 frames that needed to be refined by hand. My friends working on the film in the studio were working on the film up to 2 hours before the world premiere. They could work on it up to two hours before as that is the amount of time it takes to move the file from the studio to the projector. After the world premier they will still do some further refinement before world distribution. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
November 28, 201213 yr Its always fascinating to hear about some of the details that go into these things, and it certainly seems that the promotional machine is working smoothly. For me though, it will be interesting to see if they can match or exceed the box office of the first films. I loved the final movie of the first trilogy, as well as the first two films, but just like the Harry Potter series, by the time it got to the end, I was ready for it to be over. Not so sure how I will respond to a new film, as its hard to recreate the initial sense of wonder when you dip into the well repeatedly..... We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. Not so sure how I will respond to a new film, as its hard to recreate the initial sense of wonder when you dip into the well repeatedly..... I was the same way with Harry Potter--happy it was over, it was time for it to wind up. My favorite movie in that series was the first, because the actors were younger and portrayed an innocence and sense of wonder that seemed to fade in the later movies. In the LTR trilogy, my favorite movie was also the first--it also had a sense of wonder as the audience was exposed to the various players and locales. And since this an aviation forum, my favorite aviation movie was "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines". It's almost as old as I am, but I enjoy it when I get the chance to see it. That was before the days of special effects and computerized imagery. Great Stuff! John

December 2, 201213 yr The DVD on LOTR features take a long time documenting the army of unpaid N.Z. volunteers that enthusiastically helped make the senery and costumes. Millions of links to sewed into chain mail armor. A document that was visible maybe 5 seconds in the movie was all done to medieval standards and methods for making paper and ink. Famous illustraters of the very early editions of the books were called in to do the sets. Most of it real phsical scenery not computer generated. LOTR and Hobbit are examples of old world craftsmenship! 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
