VRinsight or Opencockpits MCP?

Featured Replies

I think I'm going to get the toggle panel. Do you use the buttons on the left side of that? Also, on the MCP, do you have any problem with the knob values jumping? I'd love to get rid of that annoyance.

Hi Gregg, the buttons on the left? Sure, absolutely. I have assigned those for my AP functions when flying GA, plus of course other things as well, such as engine start/stop, wing deice, pitot deice, etc. With regards to the knob values jumping, I have to say that the unit is only a few weeks old, but no, so far so good...

I'd like to thank everyone for their comments.

I have ordered the VRi version due to the Efis and Comm section being included, compared to the OC MCP only. They now have sale on ironically, if you buy the MCP and EFIS together they give you 100Euro off.

Although I ordered it from Proviation.co.uk on the 7th Dec, it has still not arrived and have not heard from the company I bought it from since the 18th. All Emails I send are being pinged back and their phone is not being answered.

I hope they have not gone bust!

I think I fixed my messed up knobs with a change to the ini file. Cool!

doesnt sound good at all. 3 weeks though does sound typical of O/S orders although that would be the upper limit

@nolatron. That IS a cool looking setup. Your reasons for getting the O/C version is why I was in two minds!

Can anyone tell me what LINDA is?

LINDA is a free application that allows you to easily map controls to functions. That sounds very sterile but it is essential. It has a nice GUI and it makes having external hardware (and especially the VRInsight MCP) easier. There are some aircraft that they have predefined configurations for. You can get more information at http://forum.avsim.net/forum/424-linda/

Note that you have to have the full version of FSUIPC to use LINDA.

LOL.... That IS a great setup!!!

My VRinsight MCP arrived yesterday. Had a Quick go and it's amazing. Only problem is I can't re-program the user buttons to what I want using the Keymapper software supplied. Followed the instructions, I think, but the assignment does not change. Any help would be appreciated.
