Ezdok instead of TrackIR?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I used to love TrackIR but now I have a new desk/chair and basically it makes using TrackIR very umcomfortable - the chain is flexible so it's always moving etc and I kind've have to sit rigidly still to use it. anyway, I am quite happy using my hat switch + FS2crew in the NGX.

My question is, will EzDOK enhance the "atmosphere" is the NGX any further? If so I'll probably by it...I'm not too bothered about "goto" camera angles, more for the effects.

Thanks

I use TrackIR and have been for some time. I just got EzDok recently and the combination is just amazing. If you're not using TrackIR, then in some models you'll like having a few camera positions defined that you can skip to. Then use the hat to look around if needed.

My setup has some camera positions defined, and I use the hat switch buttons to switch from one position to the next. (so the hat switch doesn't look around because I have TrackIR). For example, if I push up on the hat switch, it takes me to the overhead, and if I push down, it takes me to the CDU, or radios or whatever, depending on airplane.

Anyway, I'm not really answering your question so yes, EzDok will enhance any airplane with camera effects. There are some great aircraft profiles that people have made out there.

opus has similar cameras so buy the camera and get the weather engine free, or vise a versa. I had track ir and whilst it was a necessity in DCS its not really needed in fsx.

I used to use TrackIR with EZDOK and now I use TrackIR with OpusFSX (far more realistic motion effects and easier to set up views). EZDOK nor OpusFSX made me get rid of my precious TrackIR... If I HAD to choose between EZDOK/OpusFSX or TrackIR (for whatever odd reason) I would DEFENITELY choose TrackIR!

But yes, EZDOK will enhance your experience but I would also really advice to get OpusFSX instead.

I can't speak to Opus...seems they have a good fanbase...but I gave up my TrackIR when I got EZDoc. Much better. I set up views that a typical pilot would need and just click a switch or a key to switch between them.

I also use both EzDok and TrackIR and find them good complements. As to whether NGX is enhanced by EZdok? Oh Yes. First off, I have at least 6 different cockpit views set up. One is more "normal", one is optimized to best frame the HUD, one is overhead, one is FO seat etc. I have the camera shaking effects set very conservatively, but I find that without them, it just doesn't feel as alive. Landing effects are in place and tuned to preference, so you can definitely see the effect of the landing force. If I ever turn it turn it off in this plane (or any plane) I defintely miss it. Overall, I think of EZdok as a Must Have no matter what you are flying.

Thanks for the replies all - I've just re-read my post and realised how terrible the grammar was....umcomfortable...chain? Must proof read.. :)

They would have to pull my TrackIR from my bloody, dead hand! Considered EZDok and found it so cumbersome to set up I dropped it like a bad habit. Since I will be getting Opus for Xmas I will take a look at there's since it's included.

TrackIR compliments EZDOK and works with it, not against it. If you're sitting rigid in a chair to use TrackIR, then you don't have it setup correctly.

Try the Seth Flight profile on the TrackIR forums.

I use both together and wouldn't do without one or the other.
