DCS World offers third party SDK now..

Can somebody post the link about this new Terrain Engine? Curious as I never read about that. Thanks

I think a Boeing E-3 would be the perfect PMDG entry into DCS World. Imagine being able to fly a PMDG quality Boeing in that environment!

I read a post that Aerosoft was working on an FS and that was two years ago and I haven't heard anything since then

Sure - http://forums.eagle....446#post1309446

Are some screenshots, it'll be a directX 11 engine with multicore support. I believe it'll be the most advanced simulation engine (possibly, DCS already is..) available to civilians outside of high end simulators like Level-D.

- unfortunately terrible music but it gives an idea.

also note that's a year old now - the textures now available are far better (I hear). Quite exciting.

The flight dynamics seem miles ahead of even the certified full flight Sims I've worked with. DCS is ahead of the game.

They most certainly are! The only limit to the flight model fidelity is the knowledge/ability of the developer and available processing power.

Eagle Dynamics only work on projects they have contracts for, hence no civilian sims yet. The A-10C is the result of a DoD contract for example. They removed all the classified bits and released it as DCS:A-10.

DCS:World just needs terrain mesh, water bodies, and airports adding to the rest of the world, and they'd have a great base sim for civilian flying.

Best regards,

Robin.

Funny you mention that, because I was just telling a somewhat older, still in the cold war era, curmudgeonly, friend the very same, and his response was "What? The Russians are making our flight simulators? You've got to be kidding me! What is the world coming to!"

If DCS turns into a full earth model that we could realistically use as a base sim for civil airliners I'm sure we'd look at it. The engine is the best there is right now in the sim genre.

Well, the edge engine is going to be way better than what we're seeing now. Hopefully it won't be too long away - but from reading their forums, no recent screenshots. I think they're reprogramming to increase performance.

The full earth scenery and the database of airports, navaids etc is what's important to us though - we aren't going to program DCS 777 that only allows you to fly around the country of Georgia and the area around Las Vegas lol.
