Opus Update and Track IR5 Problem

Featured Replies

Hello and Happy Holidays to all!

I seem to be having a conflict of some sort with regards to the latest Opus update and Track IR5. The issue is an erratic/flashing screen in the VC which virtually makes it impossible to fly. I thought initially it was a Track IR5 issue but I have never had any issues with Track IR5. I have recently updated Opus to version 2.71.0 and I believe that is when my screen problems have commenced. When FSX is loaded and the Opus FSI server is running the erratic/flashing screen is present in the VC only (both payware and default A/C). The external views do not seem to be effected. When I try to use the Live Camera controls the erratic/flashing screen prevents me from making any camera adjustments. I notice that when I disable the Opus FSI Server in sim during the erratic/flashing screen, it just stops and all is good? I may have to uninstall and re-install Opus to previous version but before I do I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem and what may be causing it?

A fine question John. If only there was a definitive answer. My belief is that it's all to do with DHM. I have run the gamut of DHM on/off, Live Camera on/off and auto start Opus on/off. Most of the time DHM works smoothly then for no apparent reason starts the flashing nonsense. So it gets turned off, but I do miss the effects, so I give in and restart it. Works a treat again! My latest thing is to disable Accusim and DHM is smooth again. Still, it keeps me from annoying the missus.

Part of me wishes Opus had never included cameras etc. I gave up on EZDok when all my hair was used up.

Hi Guys,

I have the exact same issue here...Very annoying...Spoils any fun in the Sim for me...

Dave

I thought it was just me. I had to go back to EZDOK because of it.

Is it fine with the opus cameras turned off? I'm new to opus and haven't run it with trackir yet, so haven't seen this problem.

I have re-installed Opus version 2.60.8 and still get the crazy screen action in the VC with Track IR5 active.

Is it fine with the opus cameras turned off?

Yes, when I turn off the Opus camera the screen view is fine and Track IR5 is smooth.

Gonna try and turn of DHM see if that corrects this unforseen problem that I am suddenly having.....

Well I found the answer to my problem over in the Flight1 forums per link below. It all started when I installed the latest TrackIR5 driver from NP (version 5.2.100) which I forget to mention in my OP (oops). Nevertheless, the new driver installation created new simconnect files in the NP folder which you need to remove and keep only the RENAMED version of these files. All cameras working fine now.....

Yeah, I've said that myself...several times! It's nothing to do with the presence or otherwise if the simconnect files either. I do hope yours continues to behave though. I've finally given up on DHM. Shame, I'll miss it.

Until A2A's AccuFeel2 comes out.

Your right Ron we will see how long the cameras/DHM effect will behave. But for now all good! Thankfully I corrected the problem cause I am expecting delivery of Orbx England tomorrow.....

Yes, you must set up TrackIR again in accordance with TrackIR's instructions, which includes renaming the simconnect manifest files. You may need to retune TrackIR settings with its own configuration package and also within OpusFSX,

http://www.simforums.com/forums/trackir-settings_topic43026.html

Run TrackIR and FSX before running OpusFSX. Minimise the TrackIR program to prevent FPS loss.

Do not run any other program that controls the camera views or interfaces to TrackIR. Make sure no such program or subordinate task is running, do not allow any other program to connect to TrackIR prior to OpusFSX.

Regards

Cheryl
