I've installed SP 2 today and it works flawlessly until now. No problems with FS2004, heck, I even noticed a slight performance improvement. It could also be something else though as I was experimenting alot with different settings lately. Besides it solved a problem I had with WM-Player 9. It used to idle a very long time when switching from one video to another. Not anymore!I haven't checked out everything yet, but it seems to fit the bill.cheers,:-beerchug Claudio

Ken,What is ISO. I guess its some kind of a fee based membership?Thanks.Mark.

I have Norton anti V, and am confussed if the update service pack 2 will work from MS or must I get it from Norton. The second is how to find out ( I guess in the control pannel) what service pack I have, then how to make sure auto update is on with my different cpu's. I know on my desk top I use the auto updates as the pop up to perform, if they are from MS.Thanks.

Symantec will release a patch for it's norton software for WinXp SP2.the patch will be out today according to symantec.read more here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...&src=ivr_na_confor users of 3rd party firewalls (zonealarm, NIS etc), there is no need to continue to use those. the SP2 vill install a fully working firewall with runs inside windows. There is no need to run those resourcehungry 3rd party firewall anymore. Install SP2, uninstall NIS, zonealarm etc, and you will actually free up some resources for your computer.Jan Roar Roed

ISO is a CD image that you can burn to a CD.The MSDN is a fee based subscription to Microsoft Developers Network.

If you choose to use Zonealarm, SP2 will not turn on its firewall if it detects ZoneAlarm or other firewall software already installed. Just FYI.

Not sure I'm ready to jump the gun on uninstalling anything just yet. I've read a few articles (ZDNet on 08/08 had a good one) that shows the built in one on SP2 isn't up to the level of most of the 3rd party firewalls. At any rate, on any new upgrade, I think I'd sit back and wait for the smoke to clear. You just know every hacker in the world is sharpening his knives waiting to have a go at SP2. Should be interesting. Fitz

Where do I go to order the cd?Thanks, Ron

Anything say that the firewall in SP2 is two-way? I haven't seen anything that says it is. So, if not, then you better keep your third party firewall in place.

Hi Ken,"If you choose to use Zonealarm, SP2 will not turn on its firewall if it detects ZoneAlarm or other firewall software already installed"....does the same apply to firewalls built into routers which I believe are generally accepted as being the most efficient blockers of unwanted intrusions?Mike

No. XP Sp2 has no way of knowing that you have a hardware firewall, so it will enable the software firewall by default.I have a hardware firewall in my router, and I have disabled the SP2 firewall because of this.

No, it's NOT a 2-way firewall. Only incoming traffic is affected. Anything outgoing is still going to get through. All it does is prevent programs from listening on ports and accepting incoming requests. It's still vital to have a third-party firewall to control the outgoing information.Doug

All,I have a MSDN copy of the Windows XP SP2, which will be released to the public later next week.I have seen no problems running Flight Sim (or any other software) with it.Just a heads up!Also, for those of you who use FSAutoStart, you might want to re-check the services and programs. SP2 may reset some settings and/or add services programs.
