August 7, 200421 yr Ken, When SP2 is installed, does it do away with all of the single line security entries on the add/remeove window in the control panel?Terry
August 7, 200421 yr My system runs just fine. It'll be at LEAST 3 months (likely 6)before I install SP2. Too many problems that developers will need to catch up to.EJ AND
August 7, 200421 yr Do a google search for a little freeware app called "easycleaner 2.0". You can use this to kill off unnecessary entries in add/remove window as well as from your system start up (some stuff you wouldnt see otherwise) as well as weed your registry from unwanted entries, cleans up old duplicate and useless files, etc. Great little tool I've been using for a couple of years. Its a part of my regular PC maintenance.EJ AND
August 7, 200421 yr So far my experience (now and during the beta) is that this SP is rock solid. And I haven't found any problems with any of the software I use.
August 7, 200421 yr Ken,Is there a complete download site yet? I don't want my five LAN computers trying to download SP2 for installation. I want to download the entire load and run the update manually as I do for SP1 on each computer.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
August 7, 200421 yr Thanks, Ken, a question on FSAutostart...I use an older version and I know there have been a few newer versions of it released, I would like to try the newer ones, how do I uninstall the old version?Danny"CRJ Jockey"[a href=http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=fritsche&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My work...[/a][a href=http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?photographersearch=Danny%20Fritsche&distinct_entry=true]See me at Airliners.net...[/a][a href=http://www.jetphotos.net/showphotos.php?userid=6673]Also at jetphotos.net...[/a]Intel P4 2.4GHzAsus P4PE MoboCrucial 1GB PC2700 DDR128MB Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro/Omega 4.7Maxtor 120GB 7200Rpm HD
August 7, 200421 yr The MSDN copy is an ISO. I'm not sure what will be made available to the public, but I know you can order a CD from Microsoft right now.
August 7, 200421 yr Go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. FSAutoStart should be listed. Click on Remove.
August 7, 200421 yr guess the billion dollars (no joke) Microsoft put into creating it paid off then.
August 7, 200421 yr The final SP2 version which is 266Megs is available right now only to beta testers, MSDN, & manufacturing. Everyone else will be able to get it on August 10. Microsoft recommends turning on your auto update feature if you haven't yet. The auto update file will be 80megs and will update based on your configuration. Considering it is going to take some time to get an 80 meg file with a couple hundred million people trying to download with auto update it's not a bad idea to turn auto update on and let it work in the background.Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif
August 7, 200421 yr Commercial Member Here's a great little program that will "slipstream" SP2 into your original XP setup files, basically giving you a new install CD with SP integrated into it. All it needs is an XP CD in the drive and the XP service pack full install file.http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...0entry2453585 Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

August 7, 200421 yr That's exactly what I DON'T want to happen. I want to control my home LAN computers as the administrator. If my wife and kids start downloading SP2 and installing, I'm the one who is going to have to fix it when something doesn't work correctly.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
