January 4, 201313 yr I see that you don't put your AP on GPSS, you only keep it on heading SEL. Maybe that's the problem? I always but it to GPSS while in cruise. Unless that does not matter. You can fly in HDG mode or NAV (GPSS) mode.. that should not matter, as best I know. I do both. Bert

January 4, 201313 yr Can't figure that one out, and you can't re-engage it after it quits? After it quits, I take it the AP is still holding your selected heading or GPS track. Normally the AP is either on and doing two functions (hdg/GPS and vertical speed) or off and doing none at all. To my knowelege, you can't have the AP just do one function or the other, it is either both or none at all. The problem I used occasionally have, the AP would indicate 'on' and would be tracking GPS fine, and would show alt SVS 0, but adjusting the VS would do nothing. I will do a few more long cross countries in the RV and see if this still happens to me. John, if you hear back from Danny, I would be curious to know what the solution is. That's what it does to. Tracks the route fine, but the VS would not work and it would be slowly going up in Altitude. Thanks for all of the good help, I will let you know if Danny registers me for the forum (BayTower). Yep I'm totally stumped... Thanks for the help anyway!

January 14, 201313 yr Hey John, The only thing I use FSUIPC for is for some specific throttle and button assignments for various aircraft. I do have a yoke button set for the 'autopilot-off' command. I don't think this has any connection to the pitch control issues. Cheers TJ "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley

January 15, 201313 yr you know, thats a good idea to try. If you think about it, the RV's autopilot is designed to be overridden by the pilot by moving the controls, pressing 'off' on the joystick/yoke, or turning off from the AP panel. A controller spike might goof this process up. Cheers TJ "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
