Hi, HUG payware? I won't never touch this one, the freeware version are WAY better then this, same type of water in the screenshots forum all freeware. The ocean color look like small edited default water 2004..Ocean FX juste eat these ocean texture and there is others reflection which are the same or better and many bumpmaping available.I hope flight one will not start to sell useless stuff like that's, Not a good idea for their standard quality.BestEric

I would buy it if it fixed shore lines, flattened lakes and put in accurate rivers, but there is plenty of freeware to choose from for water textures. I will pass and buy a more useful add-on later.

Not everything that is worthy is worth paying for. After d/l'ing Vilks textures (Vater.zip) I have no further need to pay for water, or to try anything else. In fact, based on the screenies so far, I'd say that the Vilk textures are actually better than these.Allcott

Hi, "I'd say that the Vilk textures are actually better than these."And even if you don't like the vilk water, there is other type of water for any type and taste.BestEric

There is one problem I have with the frewware stuff, when you fly above a certain altitude (I think it's like 10,000ft) you get that square effect where the default water textures show up in large squares. If these payware water textures fix that, then I might just get this.

Hi, "(I think it's like 10,000ft) you get that square effect where the default water textures show up in large squares. Well, it's not as obvious with the original textures, because the colors are the same for near and far textures. OceanFX only updates the detailed, "near" textures, which are color adjusted. Dunno about this package - but they seem to have changed the ocean textures (apart from the reflection textures) too. Anyways, I'd never buy that...(I would in fact not even use it if I got it for free.)-Daniel

Flight 1 makes some good products, but this seems like something they just threw up there to make an extra buck... You guys are right. Stick with the freeware stuff and save $15.00.

I am slightly appalled at the notion of paying for something like water textures. Just seems like a gimmick designed to gouge those who are new to the hobby and don't have knowledge of the better, free textures out there.

Hi Guys,While I respect the opinions you have stated here, I have trouble believing that one could form an opinion about a product without having seen the product.Yes, water textures are prolific and free on many popular download sites, but we would not have produced a commercial package without thinking that the packages offers more than what could be obtained for free. Peter Wilding who produced the award winning PWOver15 water texture package is the designer behind this product and he has taken it to a completely new level. This goes well beyond anything he has done in the past.No one has yet to mention the sky textures also included in this package. Those alone are worth every penny of the price. They add a completely new and realistic dimension to the sky in FS. Coupled with these, we have what are arguably the best water textures available in FS, and a slick interface that allows you to install or remove complete sets of textures with a simple button push. This is not your average 2 nights of work water texture upgrade for FS.I highly recommend you give it a hard look and decide if you like it or not, do not just paint it with a large brush based on nothing. As with any Flight One title, if you are unhappy with it, let us know, we will do everything we can to make sure you walk away satisfied.Best Regards,Tom MainFlight One Software

"I highly recommend you give it a hard look and decide if you like it or not, do not just paint it with a large brush based on nothing."I did indeed give the screenies at Flight1 a hard look, Tom. Perhaps you should consider putting up some other shots... they didn't show me anything that's better than the many freeware offerings. Until I see something that's truly new and nicer than the freeware I'll save my money for other payware offerings.Regards,Greg

>I did indeed give the screenies at Flight1 a hard look, Tom. >Perhaps you should consider putting up some other shots...I have to go along with this. I also stared at the pics and saw nothing new (both water & clouds). Perhaps some before/after pics could convince folks provided that "before" would incorporate the best of freeware currently available. Michael J.

If the squares are there then its not a good buy. I dont have squares with the default water textures, so if the problem is with the MS rendering and it cannot be fixed, whats the point?Well the sky might be a good feature dont know. Also is there a trial to look and see first? The web site syas when you install/run a purchase screen pops up?

I have to agree with the others (and I'm a big Flight1 fan). The screenies don't show anything with the water or sky that can't be obtained through the freeware offerings. What the package may offer is a "one stop shop" where they can get a good matched set of water/sky textures vs. having to hunt and gather in the forum libraries. Also, in the case of textures, I think the Win XP advisory is not needed, and will cost you sales. I have Win98 and while I may run into an aircraft gauge from time to time with issues, I've never seen any issues with textures or external aircraft models, nor would I expect there to be any. I would suggest keeping the advisory for aircraft packages, but removing it for scenery packages.-John
