Problem with MD11 Tutorial

Featured Replies

Okay, so I bought the MD11 yesterday since there was this "secret" sale. Now, I started the tutorial and I've set everything correctly but there is a problem: The manual says:

"You now find yourself on the flight deck, the time of day being early morning. Loaded is a panel state representing the

condition the pilots would normally find the aircraft in when boarding on a transit stop."

However, my MD11 has the engines on and everything doesn't seem to be like the manual says (engines off, IRS not aligned, etc.)

How can I change my panel state to always start "short"? I know how to do it on the NGX but I'm completely 100% new to this addon, and I have no idea how to do anything.

Thanks.

Its all in the manual you need to pick your aircraft first and than select the airport and gate, once loaded than yoiu need to go to the top menu bar select pmdg/select panel state than select tutorial 1 sav panel state than it will load as per the tutoral it does for me, or if your not doing the tutorial you can pick another panel state as you choose since there are a few to pick from. Its not like the ngx where you can enter in the fmc what panel state to load all the time. But going to the menu bar and slecting doesnt take much longer to do

Ahh, I seemed to have skipped that part of the tutorial .pdf. Thanks. But is it really impossible to have it to always start it at a certain panel state? If so, that sucks.

I think you can create a FSX save file in a short-turn condition. Other than that, I don't think that is possible.

You can't set it to 'always' start in a selected panel state. However, once you load the aircraft you can then use the PMDG Menu to load a selected panel state (i.e. Long Ground Turn [Cold and Dark], Short Ground Turn, etc...). It tells you what condition each panel state contains.

No, you can fuel from the MCDU, if you chose FMS as fueling method it will fuel what you put in on flight plan init page three.

Personally I use the loadmanager to put both fuel and payload because I do my fuelcalc in FSCalc on iphone and load/performance in TopCat before I finalize with the loadmanager.

Remember to load your desired panel state before you load up the plane from the loadmanager.

Good luck and have fun, it is a marvellous plane!

Morten
