January 16, 201313 yr Hey guys. I know this was already addressed and answered on the maddog forum but the forum isn't loading so I can't find the solution. I'm just trying flythemaddog 2008 on FSX for the first time and when i load the aircraft from the aircraft selection screen FSX CTDs on me. I also tried loading the cessna first and starting a flight, then loading the maddog.......same problem. Does anyone know the solution to this? Thanks. - Ian Ian Kalter - ATP Multiengine / DHC8 ; EMB-145 Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.7GHz ; 16 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 ASUS Z170-Deluxe ; Nvidia GTX 1080 TiSamsung 950 Pro SSD x2, Samsung 850 Pro SSD ; Windows 10 Pro x64
January 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member The Maddog 2008, for the first time? When did you obtain it? Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
January 16, 201313 yr Author I've had it since it came out but only used it on FS2004. I'm just now trying to use it on FSX which is giving me problems. January 16, 201313 yr Does your show anything on the case? You are looking for the red entries in the applications section. If you find one being related to FSX, please post the details the text gives you. The Maddog in FSX installs a dll being run via the dll.xml of FSX. Wow, that's a cryptic sentence. Well, if you look up this dll.xml at C:\Users\Ian\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX and open it with a text editor (like Windows notepad), you can see if the LeonardoSH.dll was added. The lack of it shouldn't cause a crash (it doesn't here) but it would affect how the Maddog runs. So it's a source of possible errors if something got mixed up there. Did you install her as admin? That's with a right click on the installer file and really picking 'run as admin'. Also, is the load manager of hers happy with the registration? It should clearly state 'registered'. Run that load manager as admin too. I'd also try a run with your antivirus disabled as some fancy heuristics may prevent certain modules to run. If you opt for reinstalling her, this is even more important. Unfortunately, some of the Windows protection and even the good antivirus stuff sometimes intercepts installers. This must not be the case on the Maddog, but it's another possible error source. I saw it happening with other installers. Sorry, Ian, lots of guesswork so far.
January 16, 201313 yr Agree with CoolP. You could also download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html and provides us the details and copy and paste in this post. January 18, 201313 yr Commercial Member The problem may very well be that you're running the 2008 version. There was a significant update for that to bring it up to the 2010 version, which fixed a number of issues. If you haven't installed the update, go ahead and do that. Then, change to the other cockpit (if you've been using the VC, switch to the 2D and vice versa) and let us know if you're still having problems. Dave Hope this helps. January 19, 201313 yr The problem may very well be that you're running the 2008 version. There was a significant update for that to bring it up to the 2010 version, which fixed a number of issues. That's definitely good advice Dave but FSX does not use 2008 or 2010 but maybe an addon developer used it. FSX was developed with MSV 2005 and 2005 SP1. MSV's are not backward compatible. January 19, 201313 yr Commercial Member Hey Jim, This very well may be a good learning experience for me! I'd sincerely appreciate you help with this. The Maddog 2008 version, compared to the Maddog 2010 version? They're both actually FS9 aircraft, even the one for FSX> At any rate, I don't understand what you mean regarding the MSV and the software developed by Leonardo? Thanks so much. Dave Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
January 19, 201313 yr I think Jim refers to the MS Visual C++ stuff. You are on the actual Maddog versions. I've found that to be a good point since I wasn't aware that they've changed that much from the Maddog 2008 to Maddog 2010. I though only a cockpit variant was added. So.. cross-purposes maybe? :Worried:
January 19, 201313 yr So, that messed me up too. When Dave said 2008 and 2010 I automatically assumed he was talking about the MSV's. Yikes! Maybe I better stick to golfing.... Thanks CoolP for clarifying! Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 19, 201313 yr No problem, Jim. And I'd say golfing comes with less CTD or oom trouble these days, right? ^_^
January 19, 201313 yr Commercial Member LOL, that's okay Jim. I kind of figured that at the start, but who knows? Maybe there was some super secret you knew that would have eventually lead us to DX12 for FSX! It's all good. By the way, you a Leonardo Maddog driver? Dave Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
January 19, 201313 yr I'd say golfing comes with less CTD or oom trouble these days, right? I don't know about that! I get home, have a small lunch, then 'crash' on the couch for an hour as if by system never had any sleep at all! It's a tough life! LOL! By the way, you a Leonardo Maddog driver? Use to be back in the FS2K2, FS2K4 or even perhaps further back in the FS95/FS98 days. But I know my friend, PaulJ, down in the DX10 forum likes it! He's now our Hardware Forum manager. I just never got reinterested in it as I recall a lack of support from the developer and I think I recall the developer quit leaving everyone hanging. I doubt this is the same product or upgrade to it but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Just too many other fun aircraft made specifically for FSX out there for me to go back.
