January 18, 201313 yr Hello, Whenever I try to turn on VC cockpit panel lights in FSX they don't turn on. I can see that the inside looks different but there is no light. This is rather annoying during night flights. Could you guys perhaps give me some solutions? These are my specs: Windows XP SP3 FSX Deluxe SP2 73 GB free of HardDrive Intel Pentium 4 Ram: 1GB
January 18, 201313 yr Which aircraft are you flying? Does the writing around the instruments light up? Thanks, Kevin L
January 18, 201313 yr Author I tried using the C172, Mooney Bravo, and B737. Only with the B737 can I see any lights but the panel becomes blue. I've tried looking at other posts but I couldn't find anything. Thanks for your quick reply.

If it was technically dusk, there is a weird, and well known, bug in FSX where during dusk the lighting is only active at certain headings relative to the sun (I think it's while the sun is behind you, but I'd have to check to be sure), otherwise it acts like it's not turned on at all. Some addons use a few tricks to work around it, others just live with it.
January 18, 201313 yr Author I set it to night. I also had FSX installed successfully on two other computers. This problem is totally new to me.
January 18, 201313 yr Going to make a guess that the video card is not up to par. Which video card is it anyway? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 18, 201313 yr Author I'm using ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP. This computer is from 2005. I recently did a factory reset with it and wanted to see if it will run FSX.
January 18, 201313 yr can you confirm or deny the following entries in your aircraft.cfg's Cessna 172: [lights] //light.5 = 4, -2.27, 0.00, 1.45, fx_vclight (not working as denoted by the // at the beginning of the line.) Mooney: [lights] light.5 = 4, -2.90, 0.00, -0.25, fx_vclight, B737 [lights] //light.7 = 4, 47.60, 0.00, 3.00, fx_vclighth (again, not working as denoted by the // at the beginning of the line.) if you have any question as to whether or not a light or effect is to work or not work, just look in the CFG and if you see // at the beginning of the line, it means "Do not read or use" sometimes in turning it back on, you may have to renumber the entries so that they are in sequential order due to there being 2 of the same number which CAN NOT happen.
January 18, 201313 yr Author All the lights do not show the //. The only line is this: [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing but I am guessing that's normal.
January 20, 201313 yr Author I have reinstalled the entire program and still have the same problems. Anymore suggestions before I give up on this computer.
January 20, 201313 yr If possible, try adding some more ram. 1Gb is extremely low, even for XP. Just a shot in the dark. jime James D. Edwards
