How cold can you go?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

While I was doing my research for a new computer (needing to update all aspects of CPU and MB hardware etc.), I reached a point of needing to look at cooling systems.

About 6 months ago I asked and searched around, and found Corsair H80 or H100 was rather popular, and I don't know whether things have improved since then. I know there is the H100i and the H80i, except I haven't found the difference between the old Hxx and the new Hxxi.

However, during this time, I found this Corsair T30, which looks mean: http://hothardware.c...oling-Ice-T30-/ (Youtube clip if you are interested

)

Just wondering has anyone used this before? Does this thing live up to its pricing? And I guess finally the most important question is, does this really benefit OC that much (if it is expandable to CPU cooling)?

I tried really hard to figure out how this is related to PMDG.

Erik L.

Not related to PMDG at all, but overclocking RAM will not affect 3d performance, it will speed up system boot time at best. Memory sticks have sufficient cooling out of box. There are better ways to use those $$$ vide: 1st topic of PMDG main forum.

Best regards,

My apologies, I have no valid reason to have that on the PMDG forums.

Back to the topic, does anyone know if this thermoelectric cooling technology has been used on CPU cooling and is available for purchasing?

TEC or Peltier cooling as it's known has been used with CPUs for many years, though it has fallen out of fashion lately as modern CPU TDPs are so high that it is no longer a good option. You need hundreds and hundreds of Watts of Peltier cooling to cool a modern overclocked processor, and then a ton of cooling capacity to cool that down. If your cooler goes out, your CPU and your mobo are toast. Literally.

But they wouldn't taste very good :P
