Hey

Can anyone tell me the external differences between the Boeing 737 Classic and the NG?

Mihkel Kiil

Rounder engine nacelles are the only things that come to mind on the NG, there's also a difference in the engine pylon, but I'm not sure what that is.

Don't know if that guy is true, but he's set up a small list. Looks like a spotter discussion, so maybe he is.. spot on. ^_^

From the side:

- Main Landing Gear is taller

- Engine exhaust plug is different (cone forms a cylindrical end)

- Only 3 Pitot probes, which are now located right below flightdeck windows (further aft on classic)

Any view

Vertical Stab taller.

From the rear:

- Cooling air inlet duct directly above APU exhaust. About half the size of APU exhaust.

- With flaps extended...flaps on the NG are only double slotted. Classics are triple slotted.

- With spoilers extended...spoilers are added

From the front:

Wings are longer (fourth slat on each wing)

Fwd Position lights (red/green), much brighter and sharper looking.

Edited. I couldn't link the source.

Well, very good tech info, pictures and drawings can be found here. http://www.b737.org....ecsdetailed.htm If you click the walkaround pictures, there are some notes on the differences. http://www.b737.org.uk/walkaround.htm

The wings are a big giveaway even without the winglets. Externally the NG is completely different it just looks the same (if that makes since).
