FSDT Vancouver plus Vancouver Plus v3

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

So I'm thinking about getting FSDT's Vancouver airport and starting fly around in Canada some more again. I already own Vancouver Plus v3 and am wondering how well the airport works with this scenery. I see that there is an update for the airport that helps with performance issues many were having. So how do these two add ons work together? Also, I fly the NGX all the time. So, that would probably be best reviewed by people that also use the NGX in this area.

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Sorry I dont have Vancouver plus, as orbx PNW is sufficient to fill in the surrounding area, but I do know that it is fully compatible with it.

Also fly the NGX in and out. No issues. Beautiful airport. But I also went to dx10 now and havnt looked back. Its smoother , and maybe a couple extra fps. (every little bit helps)

Im getting low 20s fps with orbx, full weather, and textures at 2048. AI i keep at 20% though.

There shouldnt be OOMs. If your getting any you have too much stuff running and or HD textures are on.

I am flying with Plus V3, FSDT CYVR and Orbx Pacific and Rockies with zero issues. It all seems to blend in perfectly. Sorry not using NGX, however, I do push the limits on graphics running 3 LCD's at 6000x 1080 and most silders over to the right. 20-30 FPS continuous.

I imagine the two products should be able to work well with each other, but you're likely to run into performance issues. I have heard great things about Vancouver Version 3 and I believe it works well with ORBX too.

OOM city!

This thread has caused me to look at buying Vancouver Plus V3. It looks great.

Also, I took a short flight from my default Orbx Vancouver scenery up north to Squamish (CYSE). You should check this out. It was a most wonderful flight.

You can see my posting in the Screen Shots forum of Squamish. A great area for low and slow GA flyers.

I don't understand the point of using big iron with such complicated scenery. Shouldn't you be flying something slower to enjoy the scenery?

How about because Vancouver CYVR is a major international airport that have big iron landing there all the time. And who says they cant enjoy the scenery on approach? Check this shot out of a westjet flight arriving into YVR

No OOMs for me anymore. Just a matter of managing your addons, and realizing that coastlines, a ton of islands and mountains takes up a heck of a lot of memory pushing the 4GB limit.

This area with the NGX, weather, UT2,Orbx, and FSDT CYVR with decent settings im still managing to be under 3.2-3.6GB. Balanced well and there is alot of breathtaking scenery to see.

DX10 helps too.

Exactly!!! You don't have to fly low and slow to enjoy looking out the window sometimes too!

Anyway, I went ahead and bought it this morning and it performed totally fine on my pc. I did however choose all the lowest texture settings on install and it was an early morning departure so it was dark. That being said, the airport looked beautiful even at the lowest textures and my performance was about the same as KLAX and that's with Vancouver Plus v3 installed and enabled too! Weather was not the best either - a couple broken layers. So, I'm happy with it so far. Another good test will be flying to/from it from one of the other major add ons I have like KSFO, KLAX or KLAS. That I imagine would put it to the limits if it's going to get there on my system. I don't use Orbx. Thanks for the help.

Agreed with what everyone else has said above, the scenery can be enjoyed flying commercial aircraft and it runs quite well. I initially had some OOM issues but using DX10 and dropping the resolution on the ground textures and shadows while keeping it at 4096 on the buildings has allowed me to combine all of my addons with it successfully. I highly recommend using DX10 in this area as it freed up a lot of memory room for me and improved my overall perfomance. The whole area is really awesome and CYVR is a great cherry on top.

Absolutely. DX10 is the best thing Ive done on my sim. The few areas and airport vehicles that don't show properly are made up for by the smooth, higher frame rate, better graphics, etc.

The entire west coast now with Orbx and other great airports like CYVR has me spending most of my time flying here. Anything from Beaver to a King Air makes for a perfect flight experience.

Lots of GA twins and turboprops land at CYVR and other big jet airports in the area.
