Flow during approach

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am a new user. I have installed and used fs2crew yesterday for the first time. During the approach I had to select flaps 10 degrees and then gear down. However standard procedure says select 5 degrees flaps , , next phase is gear down/flaps 15. This is the procedure they have tought me in a real moving simulator. Can I somewhere change this with FS2crew. I have read the manual but I cannot find it. (Or didn't see it)

Yet in real world you can use flaps 10 config during approach, but my pilots told me they use it in 700 fleet type. Also speed limit on the low end is the same as flaps 5...provieds drag to keep on speed.

If I removed Flaps 10, someone would no doubt complain that they want to flap 10 available.

Is it not possible to make this a user configurable option as opposed to one or the other?

But not realistic. And that's the way we want to fly the PMDG 737.

Exactly. Especially on approach phase. There's too much else going on to have to pull up the panel and then click to skip it. It would just be so much better to not have to do those additional mouse clicks and instead have the flow stay as un-interrupted as possible.

And, for that matter, just when the gear down command is called at all would be nice to be configurable. So, maybe some airlines/procedures keep the flaps 10 call in there but they still lower the gear at 5 or when one notch away from intercepting the Glide Slope or something.

It would be even better yet if the gear down command was the secondary button at this phase(not sure what is now). But, then, you could lower the gear at any point regardless of position of the flaps. I've been on many flights where the gear has been lowered before any flaps added to aid in slowing the aircraft down.
