August 26, 200421 yr Hopefully, by the time the conference ends, they'll announce that they had a good time.Greg
August 26, 200421 yr I think they will anonunce a special flight sim GUI for the next vesion of windows ... features will beInstead of point and click you hop into a sim plane and fly to your file.Word processing will be some by a CFS implemention where you will have to land at air bases and load your bomber up with letters and then go on bombing runs to drop them on your page..your file system when looked at from altitude will look like a terran mesh... so you can easly pick out bloated folders.Folders will be called countrys and files airports.:)

August 29, 200421 yr Gee, Tom, ya' joined AOPA, good for you! When did you join? Been telling FS folks to join at the DF web site for a couple of years now. We should mount a big FS/AOPA membership drive. Imagine if we could get a few thousand more folks to join?Been a proud member since 1975, #538508.See ya' in Denver! :-)Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...RUM_LOUF_A2.jpg
August 30, 200421 yr Why in the world would they need to send out a patch for FS2004? Mine seems fine other than the little things. I say that they work on implementing new things in the next version like:Water and snow build-up on runways and grass strips that affects tractionWeather changes that morph instead of changing in a flashMore open access for those builing full size flight decksImprovment in lighting, such as landing and taxi lights. Ex: lighting not whiting out the runways/taxiways at night. Running more tests on Nav information, like the ILS's lining up better with the runways and thresholdsGiving the ability for Runways to have the correct height througout the runway length as in the real world, with slopes and dipsand a real biggie that is not so hard........A much wider range of controller/pilot voices!!! There are many types of voices that could be added that reflect the real world ATC/pilot chatter environment. Caution!!! The following statement is not said in order to be Politically Correct, so no flaming!!! Although I am a white American male, there are so many other nationalities that should be represented in the voice pack!!! Surely with MS being such an international corporation, they can have people come in for a few hours each to do the voices for FS. Men, Women, Black, White, Asian, European, British, Latino, Southern, Northern, Middle Eastern, etc. How much harder would this be? Sure it would take up more hard drive space, but that's why they make bigger hard drives! Not to mention, the ability to contact a Flight Service Station maybe???Notice that these are requests that directly affect flying, and not eye candy (except maybe the weather morphing) and would be another enhancement to this great product!Just my 2 cent worth...
August 30, 200421 yr Agree with all your suggestions Tomlin, but I must add that the ATC engine itself needs a major upgrade...eg more efficient use of runways for departures and arrivals...better separation on arrival to avoid/reduce so many go arounds..handoffs to improper controllers like into Miami, being handed off to Homestaed approach which does not exist, etc.Agree on the controller voices...would be nice to have an accent shift flying from one country to another..Bill
August 30, 200421 yr Interesting. One of features that shocked me most when I got FS2002 was the fact that the voices actually spoke out the airport names. Not only did they put in a lot of airport names, but they also included a huge list of airline/aircraft names. Strangely enough, the product as-is doesn't use these airline/aircraft names. Just imagine what these voice actors must have gone through, looking at the list of unpronouncable airport names. Localised voices would indeed be nice.
August 30, 200421 yr I became a member some time ago. In '73, when I relinquished my medical, AOPA was no where near what it is today. Coming to Denver? Great! There are some 15 or so AVSIM staff members that will be there that look forward to discussing some history with you.
