February 26, 201313 yr Author As far as the new system I recommended goes here is what I would do: 6 port USB Expansion module ... you can never have too many USB ports. 1 TB data hard drive ... install MSFX on this drive (probably will be drive D) ... this places MSFX outside of Windows 7 User Access b***sh** ... also, install all of your sceneries here as well, this makes sure that MSFX is not fighting with the OS for access to drive C. Performance Tuning protection plan Maximum Enermax 120mm case cooling fan ... you can never have too many case fans. Pro Overclocking Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) ... if you have a Windows 7 install disk laying around (make sure you can activate it on the new machine) you can use that ... otherwise you have to pay M$ for the OS. Notice that these guys give you three years of warranty protection as well as lifetime support! When you said "1 TB data hard drive", do I have the right one? Or did you mean a Second Hard drive. February 26, 201313 yr Moderator HighMemFix is a tweak that allows MSFX to access the 8GB of memory I have on my machine. There is no purpose in using it if you do not have more than 4GB of memory. Sorry but that is not true, FSX can never access more than 4gb of RAM since its a 32bit program and there is no tweak to make it do so. Highmemfix allows FSX to handle more than 512mb of video RAM and it SHOULD be used by just about everyone. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
February 26, 201313 yr Yes, one TB second drive ... thanks for weighing in Jim ... didn't know that ... live and learn. That second drive is where you will install everything ... your new installation has to be installed outside of the Widows 7 protected area. Let them do the OCing ... but go ahead and get the OC protection ... (just to be safe ... it is a small cost for covering all bases)

February 26, 201313 yr Brenchen ... don't know about that ... both the starter of this thread and myself do not have high end machines running SSDS. After running through all of the tweaks I got my E8400 3.0Ghz machine coughing up 20fps with them (running PMDG 737 NGX).

I've tried *******'s tweak and Kostas tweak together, and alone, and it seemed to have worked better alone. However, I cannot say that all will be like this, so it's to be tested.
