Are there better ATC add-ons than the default facility?

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if there are commercial add-ons that are better than the default FS9 ATC?Cliff

I second Radar Contact. Very good program, very accurate, scolds you when you do bad and praises you when you did good. It also doesn't leave you hanging just after contacting approach on a low vis ILS landing because mom said it was time for dinner.Willhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

>What a rediculous statement.>Run along and play with your program-I'll stick with Vatsim>and fly.>>John My, My, My... aren't we sensitive. I didn't mention VATSIM by name now did I? But I will now. Yes I have flown VATSIM before and don't any more for the very reason I mentioned. It happened more than once that controllers bailed out on me at the worst time after several hours of flight. Since you knew it was VATSIM that I was talking about then you must have had it happen to you as well. You may think my statement was rediculous but tell me this.... Was There ANYTHING untrue about it??????? Besides everyone is allowed to have an opinion without it being attacked as ignorant or rediculous don't you "think" fellas??Willhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

I always fly with Radar Contact - the best add-on I have...Juul Tango,Hasselt, Belgium

I assumed you were talking about VATSIM as it's easily the biggest Online organisation with about 10,000 members. It has happened me on occasion but I didnt find it a substantial enough reason to drop using it. I find the immersion and realism(in europe at least) far outweigh the occasional times when a controller drops off screen, or if I'm controlling-when the Pilot drops off screen.IMHO, VATSIM is the closest to reality that us PC pilots will ever get. Now, let me ask a question. When this controller dropped offline, did you not realise that it was an ideal situation to practice a situation of radio failure? That's what charts are for...John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer

I have been looking at getting Radar Contact but they don't provide any "demo" as such. Providing a sample flight or something for free would make it a lot easier to decide.

Try VATSIM for free. If you're not happy-then buy radar contact because it is the most realistic ATC program when Online flight is taken out of consideration.John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer

Los Angeles Center just had 72hrs of non-stop ATC as well on VATSIM.

I just love these "My dog is bigger and better than your dog" discussions.Sometimes I wonder what happened to civility ... the guy simply wanted a set of opinions . Pretty easy request to me.O well ... I have been an RC user since 3.0 was published, use it for each and every flight, find it to be a very well done and useful software title ,,, adds much to my flight sim experience ... and I would recommend it very highly.Good forum also, knowledgeable folks, very responsive developers.Cheers, and
