Need a Startup Tutorial for CS 777 1.0

Featured Replies

For anyone out their who has actuall flown the CS 777 1.0 would it possible to provide me a simple tutorial on the proper engine start? I know the plane is defaulted with the engines already running, but I have not been able to get my Hyd working even after turning them on. Non of my flaps, rudders or anything works. Now I could be missing something that is why I'm asking for the tutorial.

Thanks Don

If you have one of the advanced Boeiings (737, 747, 767), the instrumentation is pretty similar, so you could check out their manuals or checklists for cold and dark starts. Of course if you have a checklist for the 777, then you should use that.

Don't count on one from Captain Sim as they do not do tutorials for their aircraft.

The only help I found was from videos others have made on YouTube that help get it going.

Or alternatively first press random switches, then ctrl + e and pray. :lol:

No seriously, I couldn't find any tutorial video for CS 777 at least... Maybe you could try some old PSS 777 tutorial video or something, don't know if those work for CS.

Well I just sent a trouble ticket to C/S. I'm really just having problems with having no hydraulic pwr to any of my control surface. i.e. flaps, rudders etc. None of them are responding??

Did you turn on these switches shown on the video behind captain or co pilot seat I think?:

Where did that come from!! Thanks it's working

Don

I don't know about startup tutorials, but if the plane initializes properly then the hydraulic switches should be on. Normally, as in the video, you need to load your flight with a default plane like the Baron and then load the 777.

The PSS-777 vids are great to learn from.

Complete start up procedure for the CS 777;

-Pre Gate departure-

Co Pilot; FMC partially configured.

Pilot; Checked.

-Pre Gate departure checklist complete-

After this make sure your RAT is still stowed, if not reset your flight.

Also ensure control surfaces work, they sometimes get locked somehow.

After this, follow this procedure correctly;

-Hit Control and hold E, then subsequently release!

Engines turning? Don't check your displays, just go outside to see if they are spinning and making noise, that's more reliable...

Don't bother turning on your lights. Maybe turn on your wing lights to illuminate the cockpit. Perhaps also turn on your landing lights to get some illumination on the tail.

And that's it, you're set to go - Enjoy your flight!

Okay my reasoning for asking for a start up tutorial was the fact that I had no hyd pwr to any of my control surfaces with the Hyd pwr applied and I wanted to use the tutorial to see what procedure I was missing. As I looked thur both pdf and did not see anything that would have told me to look for the hyd pnl located in the back of the cockpit behind the Capt seat?? not to mention it is hard to access the switches.

Also I was not aware that you need to load a default plane the load the CS 777? I just load mine up from the start and my only issue was that I was not having Hyd pwr.

I also noticed that the ext lights are not bright at all, I'll take another look to see if there is a brightness knob.

LOL- I had this mental picture of John Cleese doing just what you wrote.....

Hi, Bank1,

As annoying as I have found the Captain Sim 777, I have to say that some of the information above, such as using control-E to start the engines, and RAT problems, are not applicable to Version 1.0. These were issues for beta versions. If you load a default plane first such as a Cessna, the V 1.0 777 should initialize OK. If the engines are off, you will still need to either turn on the APU or get ground power and air (available on the left side of the Control-2 popup). Even if the engines are on, make sure the generators on both engines are on. For an APU start, the APU generator switch and bleed air (over on the right under the Air Conditioning packs) need to be on. Startup requires just turning the overhead startup switch to the left, separately for each engine, and then switching on that engine's fuel switch if it is off. (Unlike the Level-D 767, you don't need to shut off the air conditioning packs manually). I believe if the Cessna motor is on before you load the T7, the T7 engines will be on as well.

Much of what I know comes from experience with the PSS/Just Flight/Blackbox 777 (for FS9 only), which comes with a good manual and also allows for both ground power and APU power for startup.

If you follow the above, I don't think you will have problems with the flight controls, but if you do you already know where the switches are in the overhead.

The main ongoing issues concern the VNAV function, and insufficient drag both from the flaps and spoilers. The lights remain a mystery to me. I just type "L" and mess around with the overhead light controls until I can see what I'm doing in the cockpit.

I agree with you totally with this version of the 777. I purchased version .100 with the understanding that this is not the complete AC and eventually purchased the full version later. The site kinda misleads you into thinking that version 1.0 is the complete package but far from it. I can't understand what the reason for releasing in manner they did and not have a complete and solid working 777.

To make matters worse I submitted a trouble ticket to get help for the Hydraulic situation and they canceled my request??? Now I have serveral of CS products in my hanger, 727, 767 c-130 I really didn't spend alot of time with them for the most part because issues that I didn't bother contacting CS about so I just removed them. It's a shame that the only good 777 that was made was by PSS 10+ YEARS ago and no one has come out with anthing close IMO. PMDG I'm waiting on you.
