AFG PC-12 is out, but...

Featured Replies

Got the plane and like it outside very well. However, installing the panel and gages has thrown me. I followed the instructions carefully, but I have no gages in the 2d panel, and few in the vc. I usually pitch planes that are a chore to install, but I have waited so long for a PC12 with any quality that I want to continue. Any ideas? At one point in the instructions it says to move the gages folder to your FS9 main. That will overwrite the original folder. Wrong.

Sorry to say the aircraft doesn't work in 2k2... Many developers are including visuals that only work in 2k4, and thus use the 2k4 SDK to compile their work. That SDK does not offer backward compatible models.Only other thing to note--two versions exist--one with small winglets and one with large winglets. However, the interior wing views both show the large winglet model. Doesn't bug me--I find the large winglet PC-12 the nicer lookin' of the two.For those having problems installing the panel, it installed fine for me and the gauges are visible in the VC. However (to AFG), many default gauges were included in the package. AFG can save bandwidth by streamlining the process and eliminating gauges that are already standard in MSFS.My steps for installing the panel package:~After the .exe runs, the AFGPC12F panel folder contains two zips~Extract afg_pilatus_pc12_panel.zip, dropping the gauges in the main FS9 folder and the panel in the AFGPC12F and AFGPC12S aircraft folders. The folder info is part of the archive, so the gauge and panel files will arrive at the right place if your zip extractor is setup to extract folder information.~Extract Additional files by AFG.zip using the same processNo problems whatsoever following these steps-John

AFGPC12F and AFGPC12S? The instructions say the L folder.

I'm sorry--I meant AFGPC12L for the first folder--my eyes have been watering alot since I became ill and the L looked like an F when I was writing my post.... -J

Glad you are enjoying the PC-12!I haven't had much involvement in the release due to real world work getting in the way, but I shall take a look at the install procedure and see if I can't simplify it a little. More schemes should also start appearing from early next week.Cheers, TomAFG.

Already some repaints on Avsim, Tom. :-)Search for AFG Pilatus.

Thanks for responding Tom. I will hang in there. BTW, THANKS!

You know, I have 2d guages until I switch views. When returning to foreward the holes are black.

"You know, I have 2d guages until I switch views. When returning to foreward the holes are black."I've been seeing this with the 2-d panel as well. However if I toggle to windowed mode, then back to full screen mode, the gauges come back and seem to stay put afterwards...-John

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Works fine here.

Too bad its one of the biggest disappointments I've had in the last 3 years of flight simming. Maybe it was over anticipation, or too much hype. It does have a great 3D model and I like the FDE, its an awesome hand flyer. But thats where it ends. I've seen DVCs in FS2000 equal to this one (OK so you cant click on them in 2000 or 2002). For a near 50 meg download it has surprisingly little but does include many Default gauges that we all already have.Unclear documentation trying to describe how to install its panels. And no landing lights in the VCWe had better in FS 2002. We had planes almost this good in FS2000. For as little that I've contributed to the FS community I guess I want a lot. A Complete plane for 2004, thats actually better, nicer, than what I had in 2002 or for that matter just a plane that can do everything 2004 can do

How much did you **** pay for it Wolf? Garbage posts like these are why freeware authors are getting fewer and far between. Why is there a **** litmus test for freeware, failure of which gets a trashing like what you've posted here? You expected more? Release something of your own. Otherwise, show a little class--if that's not TOO much to ask, and don't use a public forum to trash FREEWARE!!!!!And yes, I am dang mad and don't tell me to cool off..... You deserved this response!!!!!!!!!!-John

Phooey!

Thanks for trying guys. I dumped it till the bugs are ironed out.
