Unable to activate online - 737 NGX Base Package

I've posted this question somewhere else in the forum but just realized there was a section specific for 737 NGX.  Here's my issue:

 

I just purchased the online version of the ngx 737 base package from PMDG yesterday along with the FS2CREW bundle.  I managed to install everything correctly and thought nothing more of it.  THen...the issue hit me.   I launch FSX and pick one of my (4) 737's that came with the package.  I pick anyone and try to load up the aircraft in FSX.  Then, a stupid window appears telling me I need to activate the product online.  Well this threw me a curve ball as nowhere did it mention I needed to do this?  So I check my e-mails that came with the purchase and find a license key with XXX-XXXX-XXXX etc..  I believe this to be the key so I enter it and click on 'activate'.  The window then changes to "unable to connect to the activation server, check your connection blah blah blah.   Then another window shows up saying "you do not have a license copy..." then FSX and the window closes.  #####?!!  I've tried running the game in Admin mode, shut down my firewall, i even made a camp fire and did a "activate my darn plane" dance and nothing.   How frustrating is this?  I just spend $130 US on all this and I can't even activate it.  Seriously, i'm one for anti-piracy protection but seriously....do i need to provide and blood and urine sample as well to get it to work?   So now it's the waiting game with PMDG to see if they have a solution to my problem.  I sure hope so cuz their "no refund policy" isn't going to go over to well if I can't use their product.

 

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit by the way and using McAfee Anti-virus.  If anyone has any clue how to fix my issue, or as had a similar experience,  I would appreciate any feedback.

Calm down, it may be a problem with the servers, i know someone who had this same problem last night, contact pmdg support through the ticketing system and they will get back to you within a day or so.

You're probably right...but still is frustrating.   I know it's not quite the same but it's like going to buy new car...pay for it...get in it...and it doesn't start.

TOTALLY understand your frustration. I am experiencing the same problem right now. Im hoping the fix this problem soon. i ordered the exact two products you did, just received all my sim hardware and no NGX to fly.,.. really annoying

I have the exact same problem. hope this gets resolved quickly!!!

Can't get it to activate. Just did a fresh install off of FSX but without PMDG's there only one plane left in my hangar which is my Superbug. 

 

It would be nice if someone having it to work get back to this post and tell fellow simmers the good news?

I have the same problem.  It is a server problem and Ryan is working on the

issue.

Yep, same problem here, it is really frustrating but hey, they decided to use this type of activation with the 737NG, not sure why, I think it is more headaches for support. Anyhow, hopefully it will be fix soon. Patience is a virtue, I lack of that...........ai lot.  LOL  I have an open ticket with this issue so I am sure they'll fix it soon enough.  ;)

I have an open ticket aswell, i'm hoping it will be resolved tomorrow when i get back from work... fingers crossed.

 

this will be my first experience with commercial aircrafts, so i'm generally excited about it. altough i'm quite afraid with the complexcity.

good thing is i will more thoroughly read the instructions and tutorials before actually flying the thing :)

Well Miente, you are in for a treat, you are selecting one of the elite commercial aircraft out there. PMDG is known for the quality of their products. I have been a loyal customer for many many years and very happy with their products. I know they are working overtime on their next anticipated release the 777 so I am sure they are doing everything in their power to be in different places at the same time, hehehehe. Still don't know why they choose this type of activation from the one used on their 74S and MD11S, more headaches to support and more frustration to the users. Congrats on your new baby........if only you could use it......LOL Nah, you will soon!

Well I kinda  feel a bit better knowing that it's not just me experiencing these difficulties.  I'm rather unlucky when it comes to these sort of things.  Nothing ever seems to go smoothly for me.  Anyway, hope the problem is rectified soon.  In the meantime, I guess it's studying the manuals.

Can I just give you one further important tip? RSR, who is the head man at PMDG, whose Forum this is, has stipulated more than a few times that posts without names to them will be deleted without warning, and, more importantly, you could end up getting banned here. Just a heads-up in your own interests.

 

P.S. PMDG's Tabs has just posted that they are aware of these issues as they are having server problems

The issue is fixed as of a few minutes ago - sorry about this guys. The server appeared to be running correctly internally so we never got a notice that it wasn't working until we got on to do support tickets tonight and saw all the tickets about it.
