2 days with LM Prp3d Academic...

Featured Replies

After 2 days with LM prp3d, and also with the only two add-ons I have working with it, inherited from FSX (RIP) because they already had native prp3d installers - I decided that I would not invest on any add-ons not being prp3d-ready! - all I can say is that:

1) LM prp3d is worth the investment, definitely, with no complex setup or tweaking required (although I was already a master at tweaking FSX...), and smoothness everytime, even when experiencing lower FPS than those I saw in FSX. Stuttering is totaly absent for me, and even using the Aerosoft AXE that started my problems with FSX Gold DX10 and made me change my mind, I haven't yet found any OOM or CTD!

2) LM prp3d is for me the only way to go when I want to simulate flying an airliner or a small/medium GA. I have World scenery with better quality then in FSX Gold by default, and weather looks / feels also better (default, because I haven't yet installed AS2012). The visuals and effects of the different Weather Themes do feel better than their FSX counterparts. I believe this is no placebo effect, although I do not have a plausible justification for it...

3) I do look fwd for prp3d v2.0, but it's no big deal for me to have to wait, at least now that I found a simulator that offers me what I was requesting - good scenery / environment allover the World, good / plausible flight and weather dynamics, the ability to get excellent performance in my system (i5 2500 @ 3,3GHz with 16 GB RAM DDR3 running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, ASUS Nvidia GTX 650 Ti 1 GB DDR5).

I am now searching for native or fsx/prp3d add-on aircraft. Scenery is good just as it is - the default one pleases me! Weather? I'm served with AS2012 :-)

For a start Aerosoft has at least the DR400 and the AirbusX Extended - both great! Then I've seen that IRIS, Carenado, Flight1 and Lionheart all offer native LM Prp3d products. I hope PMDG finds a way to start developing for this platform before v2.0 comes out. The same goes for A2A and RealAir because I will certainly miss my add-ons from FSX here, but, as I pointed out, I will only support products that are designed for LM Prp3d only or as an otion in the installer.

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

What about VatSim?

I heard it is pretty hit and miss with people. That is really the only thing holding me back.

Hmmm, I never used Vatsim or the other online ATC networks... although I agree they really bring a much more immersive environment to a flight simulation platform where built-in ATC will allways be rather difficult to achieve at such a level of realism...

Vatsim, using Sq4 or FSINN no problems at all, for me when I tested it.

I agree. Smoother, and more stable. And nice to see alot of addon devs support and provide native installers. Unfortunately the biggest and most important player, PMDG which I fly nearly all the time wont allow it, so therefore I have to say Im out. Hopefully V2 will have a different set of rules.

Which aircraft from Flight 1 are for P3D?
