March 27, 201313 yr Commercial Member Sweet but 2 hours? I'll pass, I rather watch a movie. LOL Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 He He!! Frooglesim on youtube, just released a 50 min 2 part video with the XP10 777-200LR that is pretty good!! Part 1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1WCyFRugQM Part 2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVGoWL_xQ-A Cool but please let's not hijack Rob's thread with links for other tutorials. I really appreciate the effort Rob put into his tutorial and I think it's wrong to try to dissect what I know must have been tedious for him to complete in the first place. Just MHO. March 27, 201313 yr Nice video Robert. Great to see people getting excited about X-plane and showing detailed tutorial videos. I haven't tried X-plane yet, but this sure looks good, and that 777, Oh so tempting.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 You're right I shouldn't have posted about Froogle's vids, and I'll delete the post, his though was not presented as a tutorial, but as a review. I do standby my original post about Robert's video, (I do appreciate the work he put into it) only because he did present it as a tutorial. That brings it to a higher standard, because by definition a tutorial is meant to teach. If what you are teaching is incorrect procedures, then those who may not know any better, who's just starting out will think that's the proper way to handle the plane. That's doesn't help anybody. If it was just presented as a general video, or even a review, I would have no issue with it. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
March 27, 201313 yr Great video Rob, also I totally agree with an earlier poster about not flying on-line yet ... seems pretty intimidating. Especially the PilotEdge network (and to a lesser extent Vatsim) ... I wish there was a network for us unskilled pilots to simply fly around in.

Flying online with VATSIM, IVAO and PilotEdge isn't difficult, you simply need to learn the procedures. I think I feel another tutorial coming on! RSM R. Also, PilotEdge will tell you if you're not doing things right when speaking with them. If you put a remark in the comments when you are connecting to their service "I'm new to online ATC" - they will treat you gently. Remember, their service is 100% free for 14 days - no credit card needed. I suggest you try it... you will be surprised... it's NOT a difficult process, and PilotEdge has buffers so you won't talk over other pilots- much cleaner sound quality! Cheers. R. March 30, 201313 yr Author Very useful video Robert, thank you for that! You're most welcome. I'm happy if it helps some of us who are quite new to x-Plane and to the very fine B777-200LR by Ramzzess Aviation! R. March 30, 201313 yr Good video Rob, as someone who has only ever fiddled with the X Plane demo a long time ago I'm very impressed to see it maturing nicely as a product. Certainly this 777 appears to punching with the best that FSX can currently offer. There were some flows that you did in a peculiar and unrealistic order (strobes on at the gate, for example) and I can't help thinking that if you'd derated the takeoff you'd have made life much easier for yourself as the thing leapt off the runway like its backside was on fire, but I very much appreciate the effort. This has certainly made me sit up and take notice of X Plane.
March 31, 201313 yr Commercial Member The 777 is quite an airplane, I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I am a big fan of the CRJ-200, though. Here's an end to end flight (with portions of the enroute edited out) from SAN to LAX, flown on PilotEdge on a fairly quiet night on the network. There are some really nice shots of the clouds during the climbout and arrival at LAX: Then we have a BUR - LAS flight. This one is a bit more interesting because there's an unscripted engine failure during the arrival: Keith Smith PilotEdge Founder ASEL (instrument) Lancair 360
April 1, 201313 yr Author Good video Rob, as someone who has only ever fiddled with the X Plane demo a long time ago I'm very impressed to see it maturing nicely as a product. You're right. I wasn't worried so much about the flows, I was trying to demo the plane and the ATC. A lot of things to do without a checklist! You're right about the de-rate. In fact, the B777 really MUST be de-rated or it will over-perform and cause all manner of handling problems - this is especially true if the plane is 'light' (low fuel load for short trips). I know it's designed as a LR (long range) plane in this iteration, but I generally fly it in the B737 routes as it's the top-end of X-Plane aircraft platforms, IMHO. I absolutely love this plane, very much gives PMDG a run for the money. My hat is off to Ramzzess and Philipp for the beautiful programming job! Plus, they are quite good about posting help for all the pilots who don't read the manual... The X-Plane demo is pretty good, but it is hampered by the short 15-minute time limit. I purchased X-Plane 10 on faith (I kept getting cut off in the demo) and totally LOVE it. I dumped FSX off my system, and that was not a lightly-taken move. As the expression goes, I never looked back. Sure there are some things in FSX that are quite compelling, and I mean no disrespect to anyone who flies it. Simply put, for me, personally, X-Plane took me to a different level in immersion. Sure, the ground scenery could be improved, and I'm sure it will be over time. Austin Meyer has talent, and a lot of imagination. Plus, he WANTS to build a better mousetrap. Given the resources available, his team has done ASTOUNDING things. As you point out, X-Plane will only get better and better. Right now it's stunning. In a few more years, I think it will be even more so. Cheers and thanks for your comments. Robert R.
