March 27, 201313 yr Hello! I have a question regarding the audio setup on FSX and FS2Crew. I have Asus P8P67 with integrated Realtek HD audio card. Have a Sennheiser headset (jack) in the front panel. And I will buy a speakers and will connect in rear output. Is there any way to hear FSX with the speakers and FS2Crew in the headset? And how to hear IVAO coms in the headset too? José Fco. March 28, 201313 yr Commercial Member Hi Jose, Yes, with FS2Crew you can route most of the Crew sounds through your headset. I recommend a USB headset for the easiest setup, but a USB headset is not absolutely necessary. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord

April 5, 201313 yr Hi, I have somewhat similar setup - Creative Audigy X-Fi series card with front I/O panel. I use Senn headset connecting to the front panel, and have Bose speakers connecting on the back. In the sound settings I have a headset detection option - "automatically enable headset settings". I leave this unchecked, this way I can have sound output on both sides of the card. Otherwise the card disables the back output ports once it detects the headset is connected, and I lose the sound from the speakers. I can't say whether your Realtek config panel has such control setting, but might worth checking in this direction. Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
April 8, 201313 yr I cant get the audio options to work...at all...always comes out of the main speakers...even when I had a USB headset it didnt matter what I selected in the FS2Crew menu, would always...any ideas?
April 9, 201313 yr Commercial Member I cant get the audio options to work...at all...always comes out of the main speakers...even when I had a USB headset it didnt matter what I selected in the FS2Crew menu, would always...any ideas? If you have the USB audio device selected on the FS2Crew Config Panel, and you've pressed "HS" on the Main Panel, most, but not all, of the FO's speech will come out of your USB headset. Check that you've in fact pressed "HS". Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord

April 10, 201313 yr Commercial Member Why not all speech come out of the headset? Because it doesn't in the real world. When, for example, the FA enters the cockpit to talk to you, you'd talk to her directly, not via a headset. Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord

May 16, 201313 yr Hi Bryan, I have an audio setup question as well. One thing I never really understood is what audio device I should select in the audio setup box on the CFG page in FS2Crew? As the label suggests under the box where you select your audio device you should select your headset but I'm note I really notice any difference if I select my USB headset or my main SB card used for all other FSX sounds. It also seems to me the HS button will give most of the FO dialog in my USB headset regardless of what audio device I've chosen on the CFG page. So...what is the real deal and relation between the HS button and the audio device you select on the CFG page? And also, does all this only relate to the FO or also to the sound from the cabin crew? On last flight today after having messed around a bit with these settings I never heard the cabin crew announcement that usually plays after landing and vacating the runway so seems something got messed up in my audio setup...
May 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member Correct, On the CFG panel, if you're using a headset, select the headset audio device you have. Most, but not all, of the FO's talking will then come out of the headset. FA dialogues, etc., won't come out of the headset, but you wouldn't talk to the FA via a headset that the pilots wear. Same thing with cabin crew announcements... you'd generally monitor them if desired via the cockpit speakers. So when thinking about the 'Headset', think of it as being like the headset the pilots would use in the cockpit. Also, generally speaking, I would suggest having your FSX sounds come through your speakers. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
May 17, 201313 yr Forgive me for being stupid Bryan but I still don't understand what the exact difference is between what audio device I select on the CFG page and pressing the HS button? When I press the HS button so it's enabled most of the sound from the FO will come to the headset and that is all good and the way I like it and also what's most realistic but what about the FA and cabin crew sounds - will they still come from my normal speakers regardless what audio device I choose on the CFG page? Just to be clear my audio setup is like this: A have a SB soundcard where I have my normal FSX speakers attached and then I have a separate USB headset and what I would like is to have most of the FO sound come from the headset and all other sounds like FA and cabin crew sounds from my normal FSX speakers. I guess what I really wonder is will the audio device I choose on the CFG only relate to FO sounds or also FA and cabin crew sounds?
May 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member but what about the FA and cabin crew sounds - will they still come from my normal speakers regardless what audio device I choose on the CFG page? That's correct and that's deliberate. Sounds like everything is working properly. Remember when the FA comes into the cockpit, you're talking to her face to face, not via a headset. Cabin announcements you'd hear via the cockpit speakers, not via your headset. You'd only use your headset to talk to the FO and ATC. B. May 17, 201313 yr Thanks Bryan, I'm all with you on how it works IRL and that is exactly how I want it in the sim as well. Main reason for my confusion about this audio setup in FS2Crew is that up until now I've had my main FSX speakers chosen on the CFG page in FS2Crew and not my USB headset but still I've been able to enable the HS button and hear the FO voice in the headset. I never really thought about this but that was how things were configured after installing FS2Crew and since everything was working I didn't pay any more attention to it. However when I the other day noticed the label on the CFG page actually says to choose the headset audio device I thought I would try that so I changed from my SB audio device used by FSX to my USB headset and it was after doing this it felt like some of the cabin announcements were not there anymore. Guess I'll just have to do some more testing but don't you agree it's strange how come it has been working for me to have the FO voice in my USB headset by only pressing the HS button while I at the same time have had the SB audio device chosen on the CFG page?
