World of AI, Late to the Party

My powers of deduction are remarkable!!

Its great to be me.

Just call me Sherlock... LOL

After downlaoding all 600 or so WOAI packages I have not had much luck

installing all at the same time.

Took the advise above and created a file SimObject/WOAI and added "SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\WOAI" to the .cfg

Got the following problem after about 10 ro 15 packages installed.

Can anyone help?

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

Sorry to see you are having this issue.   I still get this error message from time to time with new releases, but when I initially installed all 600 or so packages, I made sure to only go in small batches at a time, like 50-60 files at once, to help narrow down the problem files.

That is the best advise I can give, try to note which airlines are refusing to install, set those aside, and there may be a way to import those files "manually".   It's kind of hard for me to explain here, as it involves alot of manual work by editing .cfg files in the simobjects/aircraft folder to add liveries of the "problem" airline to the base aircaft model (i.e., an Aardvark Boeing 737-800).  It is process that takes time to learn and practice, but you may want to try in the future.  But the whole idea of WOAI is to avoid manual work in the first place, so you may just want to ignore the error files if you can and then add them in the future if you are interested in learning about adding paints to existing models in the future.

Not sure why you are running Microsoft.net/framework64.  FSX and the WOAI app are 32 bit applications.  You should have the x86 version installed which is for 32 bit applications (running in a 64 bit operating system environment).  The mscorlib.dll is out-of-date.  To run FSX/Acceleration successfully you need to have Microsoft.net Frameworkx86 versions 1.1 through 4.5 installed.  You can look in the C:\Windows\Microsoft.net\Framework(x86) folder do see the various versions installed.  In addition, here's a link to a good tool to verify whether they are all properly installed - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

You also need to have the latest versions of Microsoft Visuals C++ 2005, 2008, and 2010.  The latest version of 2005 is here - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347; the latest version of 2008 is here - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26368; and the latest version of 2010 is here - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26999.  MSV's are used by developers to make sure the application is installed properly as they had intended.

Best regards,

Jim

Thank you very much Jim, I followed you instructions on the .netframework. I have automatic updates disabled. Maybe thats why 4.5 wa not there.

As for the C++ version each download page has 3 versions. AIx64, x64 and x86.

Should I install all three or should I just install the x86 version of each?

My OS is windows 7 64bit

Well, I followed all of those instruction and the install problem still exists.

Just goes to show the FSX is not for Aviation enthusiast.

It is ONLY for Aviation enthusiasts who are also computer software

and hardware experts. That is why the Flight Sim community is tiny.

It has nothing to do with a lack of interest in Flight Simulation.

Ok! made some progress. found 3 packages that where causing the above problem.

Managed to complete an install of all passenger Airlines without an error.

I had 431 packages and selected all of them to install. However when I checked the dedicated SimObject folder that I created for WOAI it contained only 174 files.

Any know why the discrepancy?

My guess is that the installer doesn't actually always create a new folder for ech airplane a package contains, but rather only installs the liveries if the aircraft in question already exist. E.g. if you have already have a folder for a 747-400, because one of the packages you have installed earlier contained this model, the installer will only add the new texture folders and the necessary config entries for any further package that also has the 747-400.

I'm not totally sure about this, though, because it's been a while since I last used WOAI.

This has nothing to do with FSX as the same thing would happen if you were trying to install to FS9. The problem appears to be with the WOAI installer or your .net or C++ as Jim mentioned.

Its just wrong to blame FSX for these issues as it has nothing to do with the problems your facing.

May thanks to Jim for his advice which I followed. It did not fix the Problem.

The problem was caused by 3 specific packages out of 400+

I found the 3 by a process of elimination and removed them from the folder I them proceed to install all of the remaining 400 plus packages in one go with the installer without any issues.

I stand by my comments: FSX is a Flight Simulator for aviation enthusiast who are also experts in software and hardware. I am not complaining about it, I am merely stating my option and I am sure the majority of users would agree with me.

In my experience in real aviation for every 1 hour in the air there are several hours work on the ground. FSX is the same but it shouldn't be!

Thanks for the help

The coding in one of the installers is messed up but I do not know why you are the only one who has had this problem as many others have installed the packages without any problems.  The MSV's are used by developers to make sure their product installs correctly in the manner they intended.  Did you right click the installer and select Run as Administrator?  Hope you can get it sorted.

Best regards,

Jim

I used run as administrator. The problem specified above occurred after about 10 packages where installed. I removed the package that it stop at from the folder that the zipped packages where stored in and ran the installer again and it installed about 100 packages before it ran into the same problem. It was a bit harder bit I found the package that it stopped at again and also removed it. Same happened one more time, I removed that one two. Then I used expert mode to uninstall everything and with the offending packages removed from the folder I re-installed as administrator and it installed everything without a problem.

Anyway my FS is full of traffic and it cost nothing :-)

Even if I bought Pay ware AI traffic it would probably have been a headache too!

To convert FS9 AI flight plans, download AI Flight Planner: http://stuff4fs.com/open.asp?Folder=AIFP&JS=TRUE

It's just a couple of mouse clicks to convert all your FS9 plans to FSX: File Menu -> Convert FS9 Traffic Files to FSX

Did it but I specifically selected the file that I added in SimObject for WOAI i.e.

SimObjects/WOAI and the program said "no traffic files found"?

Glad you finally got it sorted.  It's strange a couple of packages did not install correctly.  I understand the installer was tested first to make sure it works.  It might have been a corrupt download.

Might have been for some but I bought and installed MyTrafficX 5.4b and it installed very smoothly.
