FS9 freezing

P.S. My wife thinks that everyone with any German blood in them, including me, is stubborn. She can not possibly be right.

Off topic, but: . Greetings from Dresden, still 200 km/125 miles to Berlin!

By the way, I did delete my oleacc.dll. Of course I still have CTDs from time to time due to faulty AI-plane textures, add-on-inter-incompatibilities, faulty installers.... I did read Zeljkos remark like oleacc.dll may be related to all kinds of problems like CTD, freezing... rather than that deleting it fixes them all definitely.

Actually, i am much closer to Dresden, 50km NE air route, or 74km by car to EDDC. I mooved to Germany last year and i thought that Berlin is closer to me at that time, and i didn't update this detail

I go occasionally to EDDC for plane spotting.

I'm going to fix that mistake in my profile right now!

BTW, CTD's becouse of addons incompatibility are very often in FS9(mostly addon aircrafts incompatibility). To prevent this, i have a backup folder for all DLL's, and from there i move to FS9 "modules" folder only DLL's required for my next flight. It's a lot of work, one add-on manager would be fine to do this for us. But this works well If you have patience  ^_^

Senftenberg? Hoyerswerda? I can reach EDDC airport by bike (even together with my 4 years old son on his own bike) or as pedestrian :P , of course I didn't miss Air Force One in 2009 landing at rwy 22 looking from the north-eastern corner of the airport!

By the way, we have no response from the Topic Starter if Mel's and Zeljko's advice has helped him anyway?

I have noticed the same. I hope he didn't give up. I think I'll send him a PM to check.

Thanks for the input about the olecc.dll Harald. It is very interesting how differently those comments appear to translate. I assure you I did read it carefully and without adding anything between the lines. I obviously have not deleted mine, simply because I have yet to encounter any problems that were traceable to it. I will keep this in mind though.

Best regards to all,

Mel

Hi Mel,

these are the difficulties when user from all over the world use English language. Even I - as English was only the third language I learned to speak - note the differences of the usage of this language here by different people. As I have to re-translate the English post of a non-English speaker, of course I may be false, too. My only evidence for my interpretation was the little word "can" instead i. e. of "will" or "must". As I work in the public services and write laws from time to time, I know that these little words sometimes make a huge difference...

I hope that the Original Poster still follows here. Maybe the solution for his problem is only one faulty texture away. I had one these days - a texture file for the RATS Il-76 for AI - that manifested in two G3D.dll errors, two ntdll.dll errors, one terrain.dll error, one OOM, one simple freezing. I could have lost my courage if it didn't happen always at the same position and if I didn't know anymore that I had similar problems with other Il-76 repaints. I deleted the Armenian Air Force texture, and - voilà!

Best regards to Ohio from Saxony!

these are the difficulties when user from all over the world use English language.

I remember when I studied German ( I just barely remember ) how the sentence structure of a phrase spoken or written in German seemed reversed or very 'twisted' when it was translated and how much the grammar came into play. I should add that these days there is a growing number of people here in this country that do not speak or write any language including English, well enough to function.

I know that if I had to put my thoughts into German to be able to communicate here or anywhere else I would make a fool of myself at best!

I have sent Steve a PM.

Regards.

Mel

English is my third language too, and i know that many "nuances" of native English speakers may go unnoticed for me. Before i moved here last year, i worked with people's at my last job, and i had to learn a lot of communication techniques(not in English  )and marketing. Since then i choose every word very carefully, like when i said "it can" in that post above. I used it as "may" or "being able".

I still can bet that problem is "oleacc.dll", "Windows Media Network Sharing Services"(most likely becouse of 100% CPU usage, but it may be becouse of some other service too)or DLL conflict between two addons.

Waiting for news from Steve.

Hi Zeljko, Taking that into account makes a large difference from my point of view and being able to understand what you were thinking  when you typed the comment originally. I am pleased that we have dealt with any misunderstanding in a good way. Thank you. Danke! ( That much of the German language is about all I trust myself to use! )

A special thank you to Harald for reminding me of our language differences and even though I thought of that, his reminder helped us.

Best regards,

Mel

Hi Mel, I'm glad that we were able to overcome the language barriers. We was maybe just a little bit stubborn, but Harald comes with extremely positive inputs. Thanks

Hi, ok I have done the following.

I removed all the add-ons from my fs9, uninstalled fs9. Reinstalled fs9 ran it. Installed the update to 9.1 and ran it. Installed FSUPIC 3.9. Installed my Aeroworx South African scenery and terrain mesh. Installed PMDG 737-800 aircraft. Installed various AI for SA. Ran the sim. Removed the FS9.cfg file. Restarted. I then planed a flight from Cape Town (FACT) to Johannesburg (FAJS). Everything went well the CPU on task manager showed CPU usage of around 40% (I also had my AV disabled and was running my ACARS) when I got to about 35nm SE of FABL (Bloemfontein) on the UZ2 Jet way the CPU jumped to 100% and froze. I restarted my PC did the same flight again and guess what; yup it froze in more or less the same place. I have checked the forums for this scenery and it does not look as though there is an issue with the scenery.

My system is compiled of the following:

Intel Pentium E2200MHz duel core 800MHz FSB (QDR), 3GB DDR SDRam, NVidia GeForce GT520 PCI-Express 2048GB DDR3 video card, Samsung SATA 1 TB HDD, 500W PSU. Windows 7 32bit SP1 and DirectX 11.

I hope this info is useful.

Regards Steve

BTW I work for a German company here in South Africa, and I know what stubborn really is, however once you are on their side the are great people to work with. just have to learn the language better as our meetings start of in English and end up in heated German which leaves us twiddling our thumbs ;-)

Just for being sure: You wrote that you installed some AI traffic, then you started the sim but you didn't fly your test flight? I would deactivate all AI traffic and make the test again to rule out a faulty AI repaint.

Last weekend I had crazy crashs of all kinds just because of one (1) faulty AI plane.

Sorry for our German behaviour...

Hi Harald,

yes you are correct in saying that. I will disable the AI over the week end and see fi that is the problem. I am using the same AI that I used on my XP Pro, but did not have any problems there.

as for the German Behavior, kein Problem, ich bin daran gewöhnt

Yes, . . . very. Is FABL add on scenery? Besides disabling the AI as Harald suggests. Please try the same flight with one of those boring stock FS9 aircraft and nothing else. If that fails also, then your thought about faulty scenery begins to look more likely. Try a flight of the same duration only on a different continent. One last test; Start a flight with the aircraft you have been using at a very out of the way airport, PAFA as an example, have it parked get it up and running all prepped for T/O but just leave it set there running and watch the CPU usage for as long as you can. This may help either eliminate the aircraft itself as part of the cause or show that it is the cause.

I almost forgot. Do you have the FS9.exe set to large address aware and the boot.ini 3Gb patch in place?

We, of German blood are not stubborn, . . . . we are simply very difficult to convince!

Best regards to all,
Mel

P.S. "ich bin daran gewöhnt" My wifes thought exactly only in English of course!

Hi Mel,

I will do what both you and Harald have suggested. please forgive my ignorance, but what does "fs9.exe set-to large address aware and the boot.ini 3Gb patch in place" mean? as for FABL....yes it is part of the add-on scenery. I have the whole of South Africa add-on via Aeroworx scenery plus mesh, however this has always worked with no problem. I would gladly use a pay ware scenery add-on for SA if one could get one for fs9. I know NMG trading has a fair one for FSX. the problem is that they have stopped production of the fs9 scenery to which they now make some of the airports available for free download, but what is the use when it wont work with the Aeroworx mesh, and lets face it the generic mesh with fs9 sucks. pity that other well known commercial scenery developers have not bothered to do a SA package. I'm sure it would sell well here as the SA flight Sim community is quite large.

Best, Steve
