Hey fellas, I know I've never been a supporter of Carenado aircraft, but I have to say, I have always liked the look of their 182Q. I feel as though I'd like to add it to my hanger, but am resisting due to my disappointment with some, not all, of my other purchases from Carenado. The thing that would sway me is if I knew Bernt Stolle had released an FDE for it. I thought I read  a post from a guy around here who had a copy, but alas I've been unable to find any information regarding this. Help with this would be appreciated and also of course some general feedback, not necessarily from staunch Carenado fans, but some of the less biased pilots would be gratefully received. LOL...yep...that would be me.  PM me your email and I'll send it over.  He did the FDE for the C337, PA46T (don't have it but I hear good things), C182T (not a fan due to framerates), BE90, BE20 and a few others.

The 182Q is a nice airplane. Simple to fly, no fancy avionics, and a beautiful exterior model that has quite a few repaints available for it. The only only drawback I see is it's age. It is a FS9 model that was ported over to FSX. A newer version of this classic aircraft for FSX by Carenado would be most welcome.

Ah, thanks Gregg, the offer is very much appreciated. However, a short while after me posting, I got a PM from Bernt who very kindly offered to email me his FDE. Tell me though, are there any higher res liverries available anywhere that you know of. Or will I have to be content with the lower res ones? Cheers...

I don't know of any but, perhaps, you can talk Mr. Atwood into helping.  He's done some nice ones for the C337 and just finished a new one for the C210.  I loved the FDE Bernt did on the 182 and the 337.  I have RW time in the 182 (started my instruments).  It flies like the real thing.  The 337 is like a heavier version, which makes sense.  I like to take it up  and fly around Cities X Los Angeles.  Good times. 

I have had very little time in the 182 as I only downloaded it today, so I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the new FDE. Maybe I'll check out Ron to see if he could help. Thanks again Gregg...

update the panel with newer gauges / radios etc..

 

Several RW 182 owners have worked with me on changing the cockpit panel to match their actual

airplane... and some pretty interesting configurations have resulted from this..

I'd love to get an airspeed indicator that calculates true airspeed.  Where did you get the gauges?

Like you I have a collection of Carenados, a few with the dissapointment of "well it looks nice, but pretty weak in FDE and systems depth".  I now only get Carenados through Flight1.  That way I can return it if I don't like it, which has been a few of them.  Hindsight, I wish I had done this earlier. 

 

I suggest getting Carenados 182Q via flight1, try it out.  If you like it, keep it, if not, return it for a refund.

Thanks TJ, I already bought the plane from Carenado! I have bought other Carenados through Flight 1 and returned two!! Unsure why I bought this one from Carenado, but I'm reasonably happy for the price. If I can tweak a few things I'm sure I will be quite content... I think...

If you are refering to my motto- " Flying Virtually Anywhere, Anytime", it used to be the motto of the now defunct Virtual Emergency Response Team or VERT. I was one of the cofounders. The motto was a play on words that we would fly virtually (or just about) anywhere to rescue someone and the fact that we did it virtually on the computer. I still use it as it reflects my style of flying. Thanks for asking.

I used Reality XP gauges - but it really depends on what you want to have in your cockpit..

 

It is just like a real world purchase of an older airplane - and starting a renovation project.. -_-
