April 16, 201313 yr I am thinking about buying a scenery add on. I was wondering what you guys are using and would recommend. Please include the frame rate hit if known.. Thanks to all, Ralph
April 16, 201313 yr Any specific area you prefer? And what type of flying do you do? Just asking, because what seems great for airliner flying can be completely useless to someone who's more into bush flying. Anyways, some of my favorites so far: ORBX PNW and some small airfields - great place, mainly for scenic GA flying; FPS impact very little to extreme, depending on your settings, the airplane and the area (e.g. downtown Seattle is rather bad, but as soon as you get out of that area frame rate is very good) Aerosoft Innsbruck - nice place for both airliners and GA, can be quite interesting and challenging; no frame hit at all FlyTampa Sint Marteen - one of the best sceneries for FSX, if you go for this one, make sure to get the "complete" version, which also includes St Barth's and Saba, whcih makes it an interesting area for both GA, turboprop and airliner flying, especially with their Grenadines scenery as well; no frame hit at all FlyTampa Kai Tak - absolutely stunning rendition of not only the historic airport but also downtown Hongkong, and it gives you the possibility to fly one of the most challenging and most famous approaches of the world; frame hit little to none FSDT McCarran Las Vegas, Geneva - Very well done airports, also check out their free demos before you buy them, so you can see what impact they have on FPS; And a freeware recommendation: Blueskyscenery - Photoscenery for large parts of the south western US Regards, Flo Florian

Get it, it is a must. This is a great addon. It has something for everybody, St. Maarten for airliners, St. Barth's for GA, and Saba if you are into STOL. Has a framerate hit, because with complex airliners I usually get 14-16 FPS, but sometimes get as low a 12 FPS during landing. April 16, 201313 yr Ralph, I used a lot of different sceneries. I would give the edge to the ORBX products. Pacific NW, Northern Rocky Mountains, etc. Check the Ftx full-terrain website. I live in Calgary and the job they did in southern Alberta is quite impressive. The setup is simple and the FTX Central Panel is simple to use withall the documents at hand. This is scenery; it should be simple to install and use and represent the real world, that's all! Mario Bergeron
April 17, 201313 yr Author Thanks to all. I think I will wait on Orbx to cover the whole US. I just hope I can afford it. Ralph
