April 23, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member Folks, Glad to see that you are actively trying to help to see what may be causing some of these sound inconsistencies as annoying as they are. We are presently trying to collect data to see if there is a sequence of events or use of multiple programs requiring the same sound channel - triggering this problem. What I would like to verify is1. What operating systems are you all using2. Are you using on-board sound or are you using an addon sound card (Creative Labs, Turtle Beach, etc.) 3. Is anyone using a USB headset (which also creates another headset) Simeon KROSWYND a.k.a KILO_WHISKEYMajestic Software Development/Support Sys 1: AMD 7950X3D, NOCTUA D15S, Gigabyte Elite B650, MSI 4090, 64Gb Ram, Corsair 850 Power Supply, 2x2TB M.2 Samsung 980s, 1x4TB WDD M.2, 6xNoctua 120mm case fans, LG C2 55" OLED running at 120Hz for the monitor, Win11. Is anyone using a USB headset (which also creates another headset) Hello Simeon, Thank you for following up on this problem. 1. Windows 8 Pro with Media Center 64-bit, I7-3770K-PC, 8192MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2. Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio), RTKVHD64.sys, Driver Version: 6.00.0001.6699 set to 5.1 output 3. Not using a USB headset, also the problem occurs both when using speakers and also when plugging in headphones. I've also sent some additional information to your support email, including dxdiag report and FSX crash report.wer I've also noticed that other sounds, like AI traffic do continue to make noise after the Q400 stops making sound after 15 minutes. I get the same result when trying to run FSX in default mode (without addons), and the same happens when I try to run the Q400 in Prepar3d.
April 23, 201313 yr Folks from the Majestic Flight Deck.... If you have purchased the Q400 from Simmarket you will have access to both an online and an offline installer. Please utilize the online installer first, and only if you experience issues with the installer, then utilize the offline installer. Respectfully The Majestic Software Team -Simeon Hello Simeon; I did purchased from Simmarket 12 hours ago, unfortunately, I get the "no order found" issue and it looks like there is only one installer; did you ask Simmarket to remove it or should I request it from them ? Thank you Alain from Montreal

Thank you Alain from Montreal Alain, Sorry for this, not sure why we are still experiencing this problems sporadically, but I will ask of you to plase forward us an email to our support department "[email protected]" so that we can get you going. Thank you for sending in a report, as we are trying to work on this issue....not being able to replicate it is what makes it a bit of a tedious task. By any chance can you change to a 2.1 configuration via your sound card, and see if this may make a difference? Hello Simeon, thanks for looking into it! I'm using Windows 8 and a Realtek 7.1 onboard sound chip. Greetings Tim Thanks Tim, What is your speaker configuration, can you try running it in a 2.1 config? April 23, 201313 yr Thanks Tim, What is your speaker configuration, can you try running it in a 2.1 config? Hello Simeon, I've switched my speaker configuration back to 2.1. I also deactivated the 3D Sound in the mjc84.ini. But unfortunately ~10 minutes after I loaded the Dash 8, the FSX flight plan and got my ATC clearance the sound vanished again. And when I tried to close FSX it crashed and I had to close it via the task manager. Isn't there maybe a way to log the status of the different Dash 8 systems? Maybe that would help to find out what disrupts the sound system. Greetings Tim Greetings Tim My files on Flightsim.to i5 12600K | 32Gb | RTX 4080
April 23, 201313 yr Hi Simeon, Here are my specs. I get the sound bug. If I use the FSX FP Planner at all, or FSX ATC, sound will go off after approx 15 mins. Some ambience sound still happens, but the Q400 engine sounds are gone until I restart FSX. Intel i7 2600k 3.8Ghz (stock) ATI HD 7850 2GB Win 7 (64bit) External Sound Interface (Digidesign Mbox2) Kind regards.
April 23, 201313 yr I also get a hang (not crash) when this Q400 sound cutoff occurs. Event log shows no fatals for FSX. If I exit FSX _before_ the sound cuts out.... no hang. Forgot to mention that detail to Oleksiy. Steven
April 23, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member We have identified this issue as a known Windows 8 bug, which Microsoft has not addressed yet. This bug affects the DirectX applications which use the DirectX sound effects. I know there are a few Win7 users that are experiencing the same as well. We are looking for a workaroundAll crashes and support issues, we are kindly asking that you post them on the Majestic forums or send them directly to "[email protected]" Thanks for all the info that you have provided. April 24, 201313 yr Hi everyone! The Ol' Blackbird is here - maybe with a "sound solution"......if you haven't done this - try it, it helped me, and some other folks - (it was a suggestion of another individual).... Open the Control Panel. Click SOUND. Touch the Icon (once) of your Active Playback device. (For me - SoundBlaster X-FI Go PRO! USB). Next - click Properties. Now click Advanced. Now look in the middle of that little window - UNCHECK "Allow Applications to take exclusive control of this device". Click OK. That's it. Give it a try. This has worked for several folks (they wrote back to say that it worked) - hope it works for you! All best, Ray L (Blackbird)
April 24, 201313 yr That was going to be my next experiment; I'm just hesitant to change anything that has a system-wide effect without knowing exactly what I'm doing. Does anyone know what this "Exclusive mode" is, and can they explain it in plain English?
April 24, 201313 yr Fleeting thought.....I've had no Ill effects on any of my programs, Applications, other FSX planes, etc.. Besides, if it doesn't work for you, just go back in and re-enable exclusive mode. You DO have a current backup - yes? I NEVER adjust things like this without first making a backup of the system in a good working order - I use Acronis True Image - never failed me. Best, Ray L.
April 24, 201313 yr Aha: some info: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Windows_Settings_for_AudioEngine Section 4. Sounds promising, will have to try it this evening. Sounds like Exclusive Mode is primarily for WASAPI to do highest-quality sound for digital streaming (for, say, HDMI Audio while watching a movie), without running into the issues that might arise from allowing DirectSound to handle mixing/resampling the audio....?
