Majestic Dash-8 Q400 Flight and Engine Controls Set up Question

Featured Replies

According to Majestic documentation, the controls values need to line up with your hardware for the accurate modelling to work.  When you open up the cofig. app there are values populated already.  The manual says nothing about where to find these values.  Are they from FSUIPC?  I am using the CH Throttles and Yoke and the raw value goes from 0 to 255, nothing like to max 65555 value that shows up at the config. application.  As a result moving the throttles and prop feather is not accurate at all.  If you have successfully set up these controls, could you please share?  I managed to set it up using FSUIPC using the option of sending values to FS as normal axis and by using the various "Axis...Set".  However these value configuration not lining up are very frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

I have a CH yoke and the CH throttle quad, which are all calibrated and set up through FSUIPC. I have NOT used the option to send the axes values as a normal FS axis but have chosen the FSUIPC option (forget the actual label for it...).

I opened the Q400 Config Manager and fully deflected each axis and then manually entered the values I saw at the extreme of each range into the boxes, hit APPLY and then reloaded the aircraft.

Then, when in the cockpit, I tested the aileron, elevator, and rudder ranges of motion while viewing the control surfaces indicators at the bottom of the MFD...all seemed normal and proper.

Not sure this is correct procedure, but that's as far as I've gotten so far, and the aircraft seems to be responding within expectations (mine at least!).

Is there an assignable joystick/button/keypress for that little taxi-steering bar on the left

(is that the tiller?)

Interesting, are you sure you did not ask FSUIPC to send as FS Normal Axis?  If I don't do this the controller would not even move in the plane.

I have the Cirrus 2 console from PFC, with the twin engine throttle unit.

I want to file dentents into the cams where they contact the sliding rods, that actuate the sliding potentiometers inside the cabinet.I was wondering if I can then match the dentents in the Q400 sim?

As I was looking over the Colgan NTSB report for info, It stated that the powerlevers have a 80 percent soft detent.

As I am not at home, can someone please verify this?

Thanks!

Throttle Set not Axis Throttle set? Iv'e done it using throttle set and not with axis's.

I'm not at my FSX computer but am almost positive that FSUIPC is set to control all axes and not send them to FSX as a FS axis. This includes throttles as well as aileron/elevator/rudder.

I'll double-check later today, however.

I have my Logitech G940 setup with registered FSUIPC with the axis send direct to FSUIPC.

Is a good way? For the NGX is the best.

I'm thinking about buy the Dash... Is a good inversion?

Wayne, that works great! Send to FSUIPC not FSX.

I have verified that sending to FSUIPC axis work with all axes.  I did not know why it did not work for me the first time.  As for the set up of the various controls in the Majestic Config app, here what you do:

1. Start the Majestic tool

2. Start FSX or P3D in windows mode

3. Start moving your throttle/yoke etc and watch the value change in the Majestic tool

4. Decide which setting of your controls corresponds to what, idle, off etc, enter the value that you saw into the various boxes in the Majestic tool. Click apply then restart your simulator.  Verify that your various sticks/control setting work with the view of the throttle/condition levers.  You are done.  If you are not happy, play with the values again.

Hi, when I'm setting up my saiteck throttle quadrant I can't get the detents to line up. I seem to not have the sesitivity in my throttle to show what values to add for the reverse, idle, detent, etc. I just want to take my throttle to the detent part that I can feel when using it and make anything after that reverse thrust. I have no idea how to do this with the new dash 8. All other planes I own I have no probem setting up my throttle.

Thank You

Have you tried what I posted above?  You need to start the Majestic Config Panel app, then the sim in window mode (having two monitor helps)  then as you are in the plane moving your throttle, you should see values showing up and changing in the MJC Config Panel.  You can then find your position for the detent and adjust it in the Majestic Config Panel then apply.  You can also go to the config panel and lower the detent value to about 75% of the max.

Do you shut of fsuipc control of the dash8 for throttle setup? I have been trying to set up the detent positions but there is a big Juno in numbers when I move the throttle levers. For example 0 start moving doesn't start registering movement until the throttle us halfway to the full position?
