Fatal error

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I am getting FSX fatal error since three days ago. I can select MD-11, click OK and the window saying loading airports data appears. At that moment FSX crashes with fatal error. Any ideas?

Thank you

Jan, have a look at your Windows event log and check the log under Application. There should be entries at the time of the crash with some more info.

Please post the event log details here and I'll see if it's something which I can help you with. No promises though...

Jan,

Was this the only log entry for FSX crashing? The reason I'm asking is that usually there might be more than one related to the same single crash event.

The fact that the log is showing that the Fault Module is unknown could mean a lot of things...

Antivirus app being used, any add-ons installed in FSX, windows/FSX compatibility issues etc.

You didn't mention what OS you're running.

Did you recently install any new add-ons for FSX?

You might have to do a re-install of FSX, but let me know about your OS version and your current add-ons first.

Thanks

Jean

Jean,

yes, that was the only log from today.

Antivirus has been switched off for this purpose.

I am running Win 7 64bit.

There are some add-ons installed, sure: GSX, FSDT and FlyTampa airports, PMDG NGX, MD11, AXE, Majestic Dash and LSH Maddog and FS2Crew.

Add-ons installed recently: LSH Maddog and the Dash. I've also installed the IvAp client recently.

BTW, I do not have any other fatal errors or CTDs besides this one with MD-11.

Thank you

Jan, you have BEX error there. There are too many reasons for that, but try this:

  - Disable DEP http://windows7themes.net/disable-windows-data-execution-prevention-in-windows-7-vista.html

If you still have the problem, try this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

BTW, your fsx CTD, you don't get blue screen, right?

Maybe someone can find more info in that event log, but to avoid further problems i'd suggest windows optimization: http://www.simforums.com/Forums/topic34141_post198187.html#198187

I'm saying this becouse you will exclude some important sources of fsx errors and CTD's with that optimization above.

Zeljko,

will have a look at your links.

You are right, I do not get blue screen - FSX just stops working and restarts itself. And importantly - MD-11 has worked before on this system.

Disabling DEP should help. Anyway, try to re-install MD11 too. i forgot that :)

OK guys. The problem was with FS2Crew for MD-11, resp. its collision with FS2Crew for LSH Maddog. I can have installed either of them for both MD-11 and the Maddog to work, but not both at the same time.

MD-11 does not work in case both FS2Crew versions are installed. Strange...

Glad you got it sorted.
