May 7, 201313 yr Hi all, Just wanted to take a moment to personally thank everyone for such a great weekend at the Avsim fancon. Everyone I met were just great friendly, down to earth people. I also had the opportunity to spend some time speaking with Robert @ PMDG as well. What a great guy. This experience gave me an entirely new perspective just how incredible everyone here at Avsim truly is. I was always fond of Avsim over the years, but now that I got to see how much effort goes into this behind the scenes, meet the community and staff members, getting to know them a bit, has really made a difference for me and appreciate everything that much more. Avsim is my second home. Tom and the wonderful staff really put their heart and soul into this and again, let me say how honored I was to be a part of it this past weekend. Well worth the investment. Talk to you all soon. Sincerely, Jeff
May 7, 201313 yr Moderator You are so very welcome, Jeff. I see that you must have made your connection after all at ORD. It was a genuine pleasure to have met you as well. After finally finding out just where at that huge terminal the shuttle busses came for pickups, I was pleasantly surprised that I only had to wait a bit over ten minutes before climbing aboard. I walked through my back door about 4:14PM and heaved a great sigh of relief... It was definitely a weekend to remember fondly. I even managed to not loose my camera along the way. :LMAO: Fr. May 7, 201313 yr Tom and the wonderful staff really put their heart and soul into this Thanks Jeff. I just stand around giving directions (I make a great supervisor).. The truth is that the staff in attendance and many behind the scenes made this happen, and they are the ones that deserve the kudos. Robert, who did everything from managing the awards to driving the bus did a yeoman's job of making the FANCON what it was. Stephen, Chase, Momtchil, Bill, Jim, and Jerel, who were all on scene, really made it happen. My thanks go to all of them. Without them, this would not have happened.
May 8, 201313 yr Hi Jeff, :Applause: Thanks for your comments! It was great to meet you and many of the other AVSIM members and make new friends. I had fun and it looked like everyone else did too. Tom is just going to have to work on the weather a bit more at the next event. The weather was a little windy, wet and chilly.... (okay, freezing) most of the time. Still had a lot of fun and look forward to any future event. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! May 8, 201313 yr Author You guys are just awesome... @Bill..... well, my connecting flight left before I got to the gate, so I had to take a 3:45pm flight back and arrived in Philly after 7pm. At least I made it! I'm glad your camera was intact after you got home! Thanks again guys. Yep, that darn weather did not cooperate, did it? Wednesday, they are calling for a possible severe weather outbreak, so at least we got out of there in time. Tornado alley..... what a wonderful place. Just hope it doesn't effect the museum this time...or anyone else for that matter. That is just one amazing place to visit. Best, Jeff
May 8, 201313 yr You'lI are awesome right back! I left the Holiday Inn at 4:25 this morning (Tuesday) and after flying from Wichita to Chicago, New York, Toronto and finally Moncton, I am now home! Miss you guys already!
May 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member I'd like to add our thanks as well. To everyone at Avsim for organising and running the show. To everyone who came along to support it and all the folks that we met along the way. Was good to see you all. Also, I hope everyone who was due to fly out on the cancelled Wichita to Dallas flight on Monday managed to get where they were going (I know at least four of you we chatted to in the lobby were meant to be joining us on that flight)! Hope to see you all again. Rich Just Flight
