May 11, 201313 yr I don't think it was anything more than that. Probably not (maybe I've been watching too much conspiracy thrillers lately, haha!) but I think that OpenVFR still won't be happy that they gave some of their products for free to what now has become their biggest competitor... Some screenshots. Look good to me...! http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/58804-ftx-global-new-textures-autogen-lighting-25-shots/
May 11, 201313 yr If you want the UK2000 scenery, it should just be a matter of you putting that entry above the OrBx version. Really? Seriously? Have you seen what happens will the corrected airports of any UTX region (just AFCADs), and any improved AVSIM AFCAD (eg from Ray Smith, Meno Robert, Angwar Gonzalez etc.), if you do not de-activate in the scenery library the scenery layer of the corrected UTX airports (almost one entry for each UTX region)? Double building, your aircraft may start inside one building (if crash to an object is not detected). Now these happen only with two simple AFCADs overlapping (occupying the same space) each-other. Imagine what havoc would break loose with two full blown airport sceneries.

You're talking about FTX(ORBX), aren't you? Because from what I know UTX does not include any improved AFCADs I can't speak for Cardiff, since I own neither product, but I don't have such problems with any UK2000 (or Aerosoft) sceneries in ORBX ENG, they work together perfectly fine for me without de-activating anything. Besides, the problem of duplicate AFCADs should be very easy to override by simply changing the file extension of the AFCAD in question to something like *.passive. May 11, 201313 yr cptawson, Did you try disabling Orbx EGFF in your scenery library ? May 11, 201313 yr You're talking about FTX(ORBX), aren't you? Because from what I know UTX does not include any improved AFCADs Yes, depending upon the area there are adjusted airport files that come with UTX / UT AK. It is also very easy to go into the UTX utility and toggle off any airport or all the airports that came with the product.
May 11, 201313 yr Yes, depending upon the area there are adjusted airport files that come with UTX / UT AK. I shall stand corrected, thank you. Florian

I believe that's because the Orbx regions has it's own mesh, causing problems with elevation. From JV's description, it doesn't seem like this product includes any mesh, so in theory you shouldn't have this problem. You may have to disable the specific Orbx AFCAD though, as AFCAD's doesn't load by scenery order, and could conflict. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
May 11, 201313 yr I'm cautiously excited about this. So far, the new textures look absolutely stunning. Much better than GEX, in my opinion(I have all GEX products). I still want to see screenshots from a lot of different areas around the world before I purchase, though. The OpenLC product sounds great as well, but I'm wondering a few things about it: 1. Will it allow the user to select the level of road coverage desired? Open street maps has a *lot* of roads and I don't want every little residential road to be displayed in the sim. 2. What about vegetative landclass? It doesn't look to me like open street maps provides this type of landclass - just urban LC and things like parks, cemeteries, industrial areas, etc. I'll probably post these questions on the ORBX forum. Anyhow, I think FSX is about to get a huge upgrade. Even if the OpenLC product doesn't give more accurate vegetative landclass, it will still provide much more accurate urban LC and vector data *for much of the world*, something we don't really have right now. Scenery Tech and Cloud Nine LC products are, in many areas at least, better than default, but still not nearly accurate enough.
