I assume no different to how GEX performs

System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A,  Intel i9-14900KF,  Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. WinWing FCU, EFIS, MCDU

Will be one to watch. I already have MSE v2.0 for areas I'm familiar with, just need something to fill the void for the more unfamiliar areas. Glad to finally have something not so confusing as GEX and this region will get you this, but that region won't scheme.

FTX Global WILL be compatible with DX10. That is a sim upgrade all by itself.

How do the ORBX haters feels now?

Exactly.

I doubt that, look at the amount of autogen.

Real world CPL holder.

Looks fantastic.

I will buy on Day 2 of release

(After reading how it performs - frame rate and stutter wise - from the "bleeding edge adopters" on Day 1!)

Gonna need extra peons to answer emails from people having problems installing it. Look at MSEv2 and do not miss much. Orbx world is same price as gex when equal it out not total bad deal. Wait and see on spending money lipstick on a pig upgrade because the autogen gotta be better than what fsx or gex has. Xplane 10 autogen is way better actually just needs better to re-zoned and organized.

1. The explanation for OpenLC is too vague.

2. The problem with OrbX is that it forces (literally shoves) things that some customers may not want, down their throats. Two examples:

- in FTX Wales, Cardiff EGFF included -> I have UK2000's Cardiff and I am happy with it. But no, I must have OrbX's instead

- in FTX Global, a demonstration of OpenLC in the Baltic States -> but I have UTX Europe and I am very happy with. But no, I must have OpenLC instead.

And the most basic of all:

- all FTX regions are completely incompatible and break FSX

OrbX should start respecting the customer and giving options to him.

Yes, but if you see how smooth NZSI and NZNI is, with very dense autogen enabled, I would have to say that Orbx are the masters at optimizing AG.

Those two product releases were when Orbx came of age, and FTX Global will carry on from the standard they set with NZSI. Well I hope so.

I don't think that's so. FTXGlobal works with ANY landclass addon and also with UTX. Orbx just adds another option to the bunch, OpenLC. Take it or leave it. You don't HAVE to use it. I think I will buy it though.

BTW I don't think OpenVFR (http://openvfr.freyt.de/magento/index.php/) will be very happy... why? Let me tell you why.

OpenVFR offers OSM based custom landclass and vector data... in seperate products (country based). If you want to cover for instance western Europe, it will cost you some > 100 euro's.

Now, open VFR gladly and happily gave Orbx a few of their packages to see how FTXGlobal would work with it (http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/55257-ftx-global-using-openvfr-germany-netherlands/) obviously hoping that that would get them some extra customers (everyone who will buy FTXGloabl). It worked great, according to JV, as you can read in that topic. And as a thank you Orbx decided to publish their OWN OSM based product. For only 20 AUD. And thereby probably blowing OpenVFR out of the water. Nice gesture. ^_^ All for the customers, of course. B)

If I remeber correctly, the pics posted were for users of OpenVFR, UTX, etc. and how they would look with FTX Global. Users wanted pics and JV posted them. I think its actually commendable to do that for customers.

I don't think it was anything more than that.

Personally I think there's still room for FTX regions. There's a reason they cover a small area where as OpenLC+FTX Global covers the entire world. A lot of hand-sculpting of the scenery goes into the FTX regions that you just don't get a with a global product.

I certainly hope that's the case.  There's no way that any "whole world" landclass and texture product set can equal what a hand optimized region with included photo scenes brings, and I'm concerned that Orbx may have decided there's more money to be made in quantity over detail.  More disturbing still that all of this is currently not compatible with Orbx regions which are my absolute favorite flying territory.

As things stand, I certainly won't be a day one customer.  Interested, yes, as I always struggle to fill those "other areas" with something of reasonable quality, and even more interested with the new vector+LC product announced, but concerned about compatibility with existing regions (it's a complete non-starter for me if it isn't) and future focus.

Interesting times,

Scott

That should not be the case! If you want the UK2000 scenery, it should just be a matter of you putting that entry above the OrBx version. As for the demo OpenLC, it will probably be an entry in the scenery.cfg. You should just have to uncheck the entry in the settings. (It may also be set as an option in the FTX Central utility)

A couple questions come to mind about OPEN LC.

1. I have FSGenisis landclass from way back installed. I also have UTX installed which comes with a urban city landclass. To get FSGenisis and UTX landclass to work together we had to have a very specific order in our cfg for every thing to work correctly. That is get the UTX urban landclass priority over the FSGenisis one.

Now with this Orbx OpenLC how is that going to work? Does it replace both those mentioned landclass products or just one? If just one how is the layering in the cfg work?

Never mind the whole extracting the old products from fsx and getting OpenLC installed without causing fsx to get all screwed up.
