2013 Demographics - To Date - Part 1 of 3

Featured Replies

This is part 1 (Questions 1 through 10) of the 2013 Demographic Survey as of today. This survey runs through the end of the year, and if you have not yet taken it, we encourage you to do so. As of today, the following charts represent the input from 1217 participants. If you have not yet taken the survey, you can do so here.

Interesting statistics, Tom. Thanks a lot for publishing.

These are always so interesting to see...  It's scary how few females responded to the survey, or exist in the hobby!

Sincerely,

Chase

My 2017 Build: Liquid Cooled i7 7700K CPU idle @ 4.2GHz | MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G | 16GB's DDR4 4000 RAM | ASUS 27" 144hz Gaming Monitor | MSI Z270 M7 Motherboard  | Windows 10 | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB SSD

Very, very interesting!

I am surprised there are more Brits here that Canadians... but with the population aggregation between those two countries, I probably shouldn't be surprised. I also would have guessed there were a higher % of Australians than 5%.

I have to say, I am not surprised at all about the almost non-existent amount of females within the hobby... (going from my wife's view of it all!!).

Very interesting

the country where i lived in is not listed. Not even appeared in "0%".  I am pretty sure I took part in the survey.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder why this is? Are there really this few female flightsim enthusiasts? Do they not feel welcome at Avsim/other flight sim sites? If so, what can we do to get more women interested in flight sims and make them feel a part of the community?

Sure aviation is male-dominated, but I'm pretty sure the relative number of female pilots in the real world is greater than this.

Agreed! My wife doesn't care about the time. Its about the money. She works weekend nights which is when I fly so its not a real problem. I will give her this she has been pretty good about it over all the years and dollars spent. She seems to understand the importance of having a hobby. I have dragged her to many an airshow and airport to plane spot now that my son is old enough he is the one I drag along but my daughters hate the noise!

You are the only one that has responded to the Poll from Saudi Arabia. If it makes you feel any better though, we have 231 people showing as members here from Saudi IP's.
