May 13, 201313 yr Does anyone know if there is a specific tutorial or U tube video dealing with the creation of flight plans and how to activate them for use within the aircraft? Reading that sentence, it won't be a surprise that I'm still having problems that element of an otherwise terrific aircraft. I'm in pretty good shape as far as activating the systems and getting of the ground but.....that FMS is defeating me! I've done hand flying with no problems but I'd sure like to be able to fly using flight plans. Jack
May 13, 201313 yr Hi Jack, Have you tried their detailed tutorial? You can find it under the tutorials tab of this page: http://majesticsoftware.com/mjc8q400/downloads.html Regards,Kyle
May 13, 201313 yr Moderator Hi Jack, that FMS is a ...., that's why I love it - and rather different from what we're all used to IMHO Of course I'm no expert either, but have you checked this collection of info from the majestic forum? Here's the direct link: http://majesticsoftware.com/forums/discussion/100/fms-set-up-tutorial-excellent-reference#Item_21 Hope this helps, Pete I9-13900K, RTX 4090, DR5-6000MHZ, CORSAIR ICUE H150I ELITE, ASUS PRIME Z790-P, THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF3 1350W, WIN 11
May 14, 201313 yr Commercial Member The FMS is quite intuitive once you get used to pressing LIST in the FPLN page. The FMS in the Q400 is really very well designed. Data selection is very easy, and instead of gazing back at you with a prompt, provides full textual lists you can browse and select from. Best regards, Robin.
May 14, 201313 yr Author Robin, Pete & Kyle......... I used a bit of each of your suggestions and ended up finally making an almost complete FMS flight. The only problem was figuring out the V Nav landing process. Still working on that. But, the aircraft followed the flight plan, so that was a giant step.I ended up making a manual landing which is always a good thing to practice. Thanks for all you help. Jack
May 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member VNAV is only used for descent, and there is no auto-land capability (only automated approach capability, up to Cat.II). For Cat.II approach mode, ensure you tune both NAV radios to the ILS frequency. Pleased you're making progress with it! Best regards, Robin.
May 20, 201313 yr I'v made a few videos of flying this thing. By no means am I an expert on the Q400, I'v never flown in one in real life even as a passenger... but here's a small selection of some of the flights I'v done so far: Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator
May 20, 201313 yr Jack, Someone has also posted a link to a complete UNS-1 manual that is very useful and also a very interesting read. Many advanced features of the UNS-1 will be added in the Pro edition, such as entering winds at your waypoints, pilot-created waypoints, etc. Todd Regards, Todd Harrell Computer: i7 3770k @ 4.6 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, GTX 1070 GPU, 750W PSU, 250 GB SSD (Win 7), 500 GB SSD (P3D), 2 x 1TB HDD, 28-inch Viewsonic 1080p monitor Sim: P3Dv3
