June 14, 201312 yr If you go way back into history, a large part of what now is know as Turkey belonged to Greece. Istanbul is the former Greek city Constantinopel. The mosk Aya Sophia in Istanbul used to be a Greek Orthodox church. Hence all the islands near the coast were also Greek. I guess the Turks were just not interested in Kastellorizo. They were given back to Greece cause of a pact between Ottoman Empire so most of the islands in Aegean sea belongs to them. Büke Yolaçan
June 14, 201312 yr Author I know that the largest plane can land to this airport is Dash Q400 but is it possible to land in FSX with 737 applying full flaps and max auto brake? It could be possible (haven't tried it yet), if the plane isn't too heavy, but the space at the airport is very limited, so you'd have to touch down very precisely. The limestone wall on one side of the RWY could be a severe safety risk, though, and I'm not sure about how the wingspan of the 737 compares to the one of the Dash, besides, you couldn't turn the plane on the apron (probably not even on the runway!), that's already a tough job in the Q400. Anyways, that could be fun to try, looks like you just found me something to do this weekend, when I'm bored B) . Florian

June 14, 201312 yr Author Athens* and Heraklion* could be within that distance, Kos* and Rhodes* definitely are, as is Antalya*. Furthermore: Istanbul, Ankara**, Nikosia and possibly Beirut**. *payware airports available **freeware airports available That's waht comes to my mind immediately, but I'm not totally sure if all the above mentioned are really within 1 hour of Kastellorizo. Thanks, Frank and Danny ! Have to admit i have never been to Greece nore Turkey, a serious 'lack in my upbringing' . Better read up about it some before flying all over the place there. A while ago i had an idea to do some serious FSX island hopping in the caribbean. I became pretty desillusioned by the quality of most of the available island sceneries. Apparenlty i had put my hopes up too high. Then, out of the blue, here comes Skiathos, followed by (for me) Mykonos and now Kastellorizo. And i quickly found that with UTX and GEX Europe the other islands and Greece mainland don't look half bad either. So for me, for the time being, its Goobye to the Caribbean and Hello to the Aegean Sea ! Kalimera, Jan Jan

Anyone know any good 1 hr flights etc to this airport?? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD I tried to land there with 737 too but it was impossible. ATC assigned me runway 31 which has hills on side of runway so it was very hard to land to runway without missing the starting of it. I think I should try the opposite direction for landing. Anyways I applied max autobrake and full flaps then crashed into sea. Büke Yolaçan
June 19, 201312 yr In another try, I landed a 737-800 to runway 13 barely. This video just made for fun so don't be rude. http://youtu.be/7cna_VaKNIw Büke Yolaçan
