June 12, 201312 yr From the screenshots it looks like one more fantastic Greek island addon. Downloading it now, will report back as soon as it's installed. Florian
June 12, 201312 yr Author Finally, after nearly half an hour of downloading, I installed the scenery. While loading up a flight, some general information about this island and its airport: The island of Kastellorizo is located about 120km East of Rhodes, just off the Turkish coast. The airport with the ICAO code LGKJ is located more or less in the center of the island with the town being just over a hill. For flights to Kastellorizo make sure to have enough fuel for the returning leg on board, as there is no option to refuel at the airport! Frames are excellent at this airport, I get 29.8 (locked at 30) in the SibWings An2, and about 26 in the MJC Dash8, which is the largest aircraft that can operate into LGKJ - well, no, actually the largest one is a Dash8-100, but if you're careful it is possible with the -400 as well. One important note to those of you using DX10: Like most scenery add-ons, Kastellorizo X cannot fully be used with the FSX DX10-preview mode. As I do not use DX10, I don't know what problems might exactly occur, but I found it only fair to include this piece of info from the manual in this post. Some Screenshots: The airport, surrounded by limestone walls on one side and gentle hills and a lake on the other one View of the town of Kastellorizo The terminal building with the airport's one-plane apron Kastellorizo in the morning Night time, I just love the lighting Considering the level of detail of this product and what a great job the developers did resembling such an atmosphere, I'd say that 18 Euros is a fair price, and it's a nice addition to the already existing Greek island airports by Aerosoft. June 12, 201312 yr Thanks for that.. Then one should get Antalya, Turkey airport as well. Aerosofts Antalya is very good.. Approach to land from the ocean and the wall/cliff and water flowing into the sea from the cliff is very nice.. This is one of fav airports to land on. You can check out the real clips of aircrafts landing on you tube. http://youtu.be/0CLSYZPFbTg I have vacationed in Side, Antalya.... its a very nice vacation spot. So now I have this Kastellorizo which is close by. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
June 13, 201312 yr While loading up a flight, some general information about this island and its airport: in addition, the island became (more or less) famous after the movie 'Mediterraneo' that was shot on the island. It won the 1991 Oscar for best foreign language film. It tells the story of a few Italian soldiers who were dropped at the island during the last episode of WWII and were simply forgotten... Thanks for the tip! One can't have enough Greek islands in such splendid rendition as Mykonos and Skiathos. ( can't help wondering why Kastellorizo belongs to Greece and not Turkey... ) cheers, jan Jan

Thanks for that interesting piece of additional info, I didn't know that - I wasn't even born back then ! Going to have to check the film out as soon as I can. (Edit: Just recognized what a stupid sentence that was, I'll have to think about what I type before I do  ) Edited June 13, 201312 yr by FloG Florian

June 13, 201312 yr Like most scenery add-ons, Kastellorizo X cannot fully be used with the FSX DX10-preview mode. That's not true. Most scenery addons that I own work just fine in DX10. Some of course don't, especially Aerosoft ones. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
June 13, 201312 yr Author That's not true. Most scenery addons that I own work just fine in DX10. Some of course don't, especially Aerosoft ones. Yes, I was a bit astonished by that remark myself, but it's quoted directly from the manual. Florian

June 13, 201312 yr I really wish they would do Rhodes Diagoras, I love having airports I've flown to IRL! I miss Rhodes, such a beautiful place!
June 14, 201312 yr I know that the largest plane can land to this airport is Dash Q400 but is it possible to land in FSX with 737 applying full flaps and max auto brake? Büke Yolaçan
June 14, 201312 yr ( can't help wondering why Kastellorizo belongs to Greece and not Turkey... ) If you go way back into history, a large part of what now is know as Turkey belonged to Greece. Istanbul is the former Greek city Constantinopel. The mosk Aya Sophia in Istanbul used to be a Greek Orthodox church. Hence all the islands near the coast were also Greek. I guess the Turks were just not interested in Kastellorizo. Regards, Frank van der Werff
