June 13, 201312 yr Hey boys and girls, I was about to order the parts for my FSX pc, but before I start odering the parts etc, I just wanted to make sure that this system will run FSX. i53570k @ 4,7 16gb corsair dominator @ 2133mhz 7-8-8-24 asus p8bz78 deluxe 250gb samsung 830 ssd gtx 570 1280mb ddr5 and if not, what should I change? Thanks alot for any help given Regards,Claudio
June 13, 201312 yr You'll never use 16GB RAM for FSX only. Any other application (non-flightsim) you need that amount for? If not, just save a few bucks and go for 8 GB, that's more (2GB more, roughly speaking) than enough. And since you've just saved a few bucks: Consider to go for 2GB VRAM instead of 1GB. 1GB is still enough 95% of all places, but it can be exceeded now and then with (combinations of) heavy scenery. And you'll go for W7 64bit, not for W8, right? What happened to AVSIM
June 13, 201312 yr Author Hmm, well your going to laugh... the 16GB was a present from my bro, so why not keep it, just in case. I didnt know, that VRAM would actually help in FSX? What about the CPU? Or shall I go with an I7 3770k? I am going to use W7 64bit Thanks alot for your help so far. Regards,Claudio

Those 2GB VRAM may help with the textures of 3D objects, including AI planes, in heavy scenery - but they probably won't improve your overall performance (frame rates). As far as your CPU is concerned - I'm not that much of a hardware wizard, I'm afraid ... What happened to AVSIM
June 14, 201312 yr Author Thanks alot for your help. Vielen Dank für deine Hilfe :-) What kind of Setup do you have? Regards,Claudio
June 15, 201312 yr You can keep your CPU with the i5 for gaming there will be no difference. Intel makes the two chips that you are looking at the same, just one has hyperthreading unlocked. Ryan L.
June 15, 201312 yr Why all these advices to stay away from Windows 8 in this forum ? Windows 8 does not run FSX as well as 7. Also, many people have a personal preference to the old windows layout. Ryan L.
June 15, 201312 yr This setup should be alright for FSX. I would stick with Windows 7 because I have heard of many problems related to FSX and Windows 8. many people have a personal preference to the old windows layout. Just a quick note, you can change the desktop layout back to the classic version. So it is more or less what we are used to from a Windows OS. Michael Ignagni
June 15, 201312 yr Just a quick note, you can change the desktop layout back to the classic version. So it is more or less what we are used to from a Windows OS. I have limited experience with windows 8. Will gain more soon since building a computer running it, but currently have only tried it at staples. Ryan L.
June 15, 201312 yr Why are getting the GTX 5xx card, when there are gtx 6xx and even gtx 7xx cards out there? And you already seem to have i7 2600k OC 4.5 GhZ | so why upgrade now? Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
June 15, 201312 yr Windows 8 does not run FSX as well as 7. Also, many people have a personal preference to the old windows layout. What I have heard is that the EZdoc has problem in Win 8 otherwise Win 8 functions better in some regards. For me the most important factor in favor of the Win 8 OS is that the license term for OEM is different. You can move Win 8 OEM to a new motherboard which isn't the case with Win 7.
