eng mater caution while using reverse

Featured Replies

hello everybody

after some landings i get engine master caution light illumunate while using reverse. after coming back to idle power then it extinguishes.

thank you for your help

What is the position of the speedbrakes ?

Check if one or both REVERSER lights on the aft overhead panel are illuminated. If positive, one of the following has occurred:

• isolation valve or thrust reverser control valve is not in commanded position

• one or more thrust reverser sleeves are not in commanded state

• auto–restow circuit has been activated

• a failure has been detected in synchronization shaft lock circuitry.

speed brk is normaly armed/up , this was only a test in order to show you that i can have this fault when ever i want...

iso valve is on auto... and i use the kbord f2 button for reverser

Nothing wrong with that. I use F2 myself and never had problems.

Taking a quick look at your screenshots I couldn't spot anything out of the ordinary, other that the REVERSER lights, of course.

Do you have service-based failures turned on in the NGX options? If you do, maybe a fault has occurred in the system. Check the FAILURES page to see if anything is active. Maybe it's time to do some maintenance on those engines!

At what speed is the master caution light illuminating when using the thrust reversers? If I remember correctly, the master caution light will come on if thrust reversers are on full power below either 80 or 60 knots. Just a thought.

there is noting active in that page,

im not using full reverse power in every landing, sometimes as tha ac slows donw enough i put reverser on idle until i quit the runway then normal idle and even sometimes right after touch down i use the idle reverse if the braking action is goodl or im not heavy and the runway is long enough.

This is normal indication. The Caution light will illuminate if the reversers are (still) activated under 60 (or so) knots.

I've never heard of any 60knot issues. I have seen a few times where if you pause at the interlock, you can get a reverser light.

maybe sometimes pilots use idle reverser or some power untill exiting the runway and dont get the indication.

I don't believe any pilot ever uses any reverse thrust while exiting the runway. If reverse thrust is still required when exiting the runway you are exiting too fast.

on idle reverse there is no power effecting on the aicraft so some times and maybe rarely it is used to ensure the decceleretion with only brakes.

I have had this issue since day 1 of the release of the NGX, i just get used to it now.

"People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.

"Reverse thrust is typically applied immediately after touchdown, often along with spoilers, to improve deceleration early in the landing roll when residual aerodynamic lift and high speed limit the effectiveness of the friction brakes located on the landing gear."

"Once the aircraft's speed has slowed, thrust reverse is shut down to prevent the reversed airflow from raising debris in front of the engine intakes where it can be ingested, causing foreign object damage."

This is why the master caution light comes on while you still have the reversers on below 60 knots.

Find that in a Systems manual of some sort, and you might be on to something. I can't.

The REVERSER (amber) light, located on the aft overhead panel, illuminates when
the thrust reverser is commanded to stow and extinguishes 10 seconds later when
the Isolation Valve closes. Any time the REVERSER light illuminates for more than
approximately 12 seconds, a malfunction has occurred and the ENG annunciator
and MASTER CAUTION lights illuminate.
NOTE: A pause in movement of the reverse thrust levers past detent No. 1
toward the stow position may cause MASTER CAUTION and ENG
system annunciator lights to illuminate. A pause of approximately 16
seconds engages the electro-mechanical lock and prevents the
thrust reverser sleeves from further movement. Cycling the thrust
reversers may clear the fault and restore normal operation.
